I didn’t watch the big game ads, am I going to be fired tomorrow ??

For those with more experience in the industry: How secure are agency jobs in a bear market or recession? Do layoffs tend to happen? I lived through COVID but my agency didn’t have tons of layoffs. Just a few here and there.

If I am going to get fired from a job due to performance do I stay until I get fired if I do not have opportunities or do I leave before getting fired?

I got laid off today and I’m scared

Follow up re KPMG layoffs.
They said this will be it for a RIF. (I hope so but don’t trust them.) 20 opted in, 35 moved to another position in the Firm and 15 were being let go. That makes 70 total when they told us only 60 people would be impacted.

Has anyone actually been fired from an agency position? Or has everyone been laid off due to $$?

I’ve had to talk quite a few clients off a ledge to prevent panicked selling. To what degree are you all seeing this? I’m worried this is an industry trend and will lead to layoffs on our ends

My MDs position was eliminated today. Is that a bad sign that layoffs are coming on my team?

We’ll never be in this together until we realize that layoffs cannot be the normality in this business. Yeah this is a special time. But how come we’ve accepted to have layoffs all the time even when everything was ok?

Agency fish who have their yearly reviews soon, whatcha thinking? I chatted with a few coworkers who have theirs coming up... a lot of them seem concerned about how much leverage they will have with rising inflation, economic downturn, and rising layoffs.

For those in the same boat, what are you hoping for? If you get a merit or promotional offer - did you plan on negotiating? Or are you going to take what you get and try to stay under the radar just in case layoffs are coming your way?

How often do you worry about being fired?

If you do something on the side for extra cash (like drive for Uber) then lose your agency job in a layoff, does your little side gig disqualify you from collecting unemployment?

Accepted an offer at Deloitte but got another offer and want to renege. Worked there before and got laid off. Would other company find out in a background check or anything like that?

So I am trying to help a friend who does not have US experience but is having audit and advisory related experience plus certificates. He does not fit as a new young hire and his experience although very relevant to the jobs he is applying to, is not from US. Any suggestions on what he should do or anyone have been in the same situation?

I am a Staff II in tax and am looking to go into consulting or finance. I have experience in finance and like the idea of switching. I like where I work, but have realized that I don't necessarily enjoy tax. I want to keep my options open and feel that tax doesn't necessarily give me the capacity to explore opportunities besides tax due to the fact that is it such specialized knowledge. Does anyone have any stories/ideas about moving to consulting or finance? Or is one preferred over the other?

I have over 10 years experience in design/marketing. The companies I worked for are small businesses (Less than 100 employees) so I’ve had to wear many hats (e-mail, print, social media management & ads, and very little google analytics and ads). I’m considering a change in career and would like to work fully-remote. I feel inadequate for the current workplace. I know no UX/UI, relatively no web design, no video experience. Is it imposter syndrome? Any tips or recommendations?

Anybody have tips on modulating tone when stressed? I got an overall positive annual review, but an area of improvement was when I'm stressed, I can come across as irritated or short. Any tips?

How does KPMG handle raises? Are they based on service lines? I’ve been hired into a small service line at KPMG that is fairly new and wondering if for raises this will be a downside
