My husband was affected by covid related layoffs this morning from a cybersecurity product company. He is a principal software engineer with 9+ years of front end experience (angular, ember, node, html css). Located in Virginia but open to move anywhere and would need immigration support. Any pointers to companies that are hiring right now / a referral from a kind internet stranger would be appreciated. Thanks!
Well that took a while but it seems layoffs will come in a landslide.... “Altman Weil principal Eric Seeger told Law.com that he has spoken with about three dozen managing partners in the last month, and all are reviewing staffing “with the intention of a head count reduction”. https://www.abajournal.com/news/article/skadden-is-latest-firm-to-announce-layoffs-experts-say-its-only-the-beginning
So our school board just fired our principal last tonight. He was terrible for the last five years but decided now would be a good time. Our head secretary who has been here for 30 years took a different position at another site two weeks ago because of that principal. We start school in three weeks with no principal, no head secretary, and no schedule for distance learning. Please pray for me 😐
One teacher is actively trying to get another teacher fired. She’s gone to the principal, higher up, w/all sorts of unfounded complaints. Is there anything that can be done? Legally? HR? Union?
Hello everyone, I was laid off a few months ago working as a Business Analyst for a well known EHR company. I have been having a pretty rough time getting interviews. For those who wouldn’t mind, may I get some feedback on my resume?
hey all, i’m 3 years into my career. some decent work produced, some awards (mostly student). after getting laid off last fall and many many applications and emails sent, I’ve decided to spend time and money on a creative PR stunt to get my dream agencies’ attention. I’ve decided I don’t want to settle any longer, and I’m ready to make the jump to the elite. so people that have made it to their dream agencies: when did it happen for you, what made it happen, and was it everything you hoped for?
How many people have you fired?
When someone gets fired/laid off but they keep their previous title/agency on LinkedIn, does anyone ever tell them to change it?
Layoffs at Accenture?
PWC / Strategy& fish - saw a post mentioning layoffs that included recent hires. Is it true? Which verticals are most affected? Starting at S& in a few months...
The lions are about to hire the D coordinator from the Patriots who just lost to the D coordinator of the Eagles who the lions fired a few years ago 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ I will never see lions SB 🙁
Anyone here from Deloitte who has been laid off or personally knows someone who did, and can give an overview of the process (who contacts you and how, what if you are staffed, what about GSAPers)
“This global pandemic is exactly what our industry needed.” Okay...now repeat this exact phrase to the hundreds already laid off and all the ones to come. 🤯 https://www.campaignlive.com/article/took-global-pandemic-draw-line-sand-adland-sorely-needed/1678340
How many days on the bench before getting fired is a real possibility? Asking for a friend
Lots of farewell emails this week at PwC. People getting laid off? Has anyone heard anything about it?
What other firms are experiencing FS layoffs? Sounds like majority PwC based on previous posts.
Can someone explain the difference between being counseled out and being fired? With an emphasis on why counsel someone out but not fire them, and vice versa.
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Layoffs are coming
Just got laid off! What personal documents should I grab from my work laptop? What else should I remember to do? Sorry mind is a bit of a blur.
You thought the last rounds of layoffs were bad? With continued political instability / uncertainty under Drumpf, companies will stop or slow spending on consulting and a bunch of us will get fired...
Just for staffed on a project for my first life sciences client. Know nothing about the industry. Any suggested resources that I can use for industry knowledge? Or key things to google lol?
I’m leaving from 1 firm to another. Can anyone provide guidance on how to handle the 401k? Do I just do that directly with Charles Schwab?
EY audit peeps, do we get the AICPA membership paid for? And do I just charge my ethics exam materials though the AMEX?
What is the business case for why my firm hires so many contractors and sells so much staff aug work while claiming to be a transformation and strategy firm with an “enviable culture”?
What’s the typical process to move from a verbal offer to written offer? Do you typically need to tell the recruiter you’ve decided to accept their verbal offer before they send you a written offer to review? Also is there a standard timeline to make a decision (interviewing with other firms too, so timing is tricky bc would like to finish those processes before making a decision)
HR at Fortune 500 company asked me for a salary target then told me it was ridiculous and we shouldn’t move forward and I agreed. 3 weeks later same HR rep asks for time slots for interviews with the
PE phone interview tomorrow (somehow got it) with no prior deal / strat related work. My resume does not scream PE candidate. Fair to think they’re actually interested? What to expect as a consultant?
Any advice on dealing with “work from home”? Aside from execution/writing/production time...isn’t it important to be working together anymore? I like the energy & brainstorming. Makes things better.
Financial analyst at Visa. Is it worth it? Considering it as an exit opportunity from Audit
When your boss is on vacation sending you emails while you're in the office on Saturday and shit is hitting the fan... subordinates, employees and executives all asking for information... ☠ 🖕 ☠
I just signed for a 100% raise and promo at another B4 and I don’t even fully comprehend how much that will affect my life yet but I am super ecstatic. I always saw posts about these seemingly out of reach salaries and I would get all sad like damn it’s gonna take me years to get there and then boom just like that I’m there. Unreal. I can’t wait to start.
Anyone out here a marathon runner? I signed up for my first marathon, and I’m curious about training while traveling. Also considering hiring an online coach. Thoughts?
Do you think parental leave policies and the culture around it at your company are fair?
Interview with PE consultant coming from advisory and strategy, any tips or areas I should brush up on before the interview?
My LWD is 12 June 2021. I know I would not get bonus. Am I eligible to get the hike/revised compensation letter?
Any Australian E3 holders in this bowl that moved to their employer sponsored green card through a change of status rather than moving to H1-B first? Please DM me! Thanks!
My husband and I have been consistently underwhelmed with our nanny. She’s great with the baby but mostly ignores our toddler is always being late, leaves the house a mess, and goes totally rogue with the toddlers meals and constantly feeding him unhealthy food even when we plan very specific meals for him. Because of that, we are considering enrolling them in daycare/school in January. 1. Am I crazy to do this in the middle of a global pandemic? 2. How do I tell the nanny?
Hi all, i am a tax staff in Boston for a national firm. I m looking for opportunities to relocate in SF area, San Jose. Please help. Thanks
