I have spent the last 8 months of this year trying to start my career in the insurance industry, Applying in multiple towns/cities in England that are local to me, (London/Brighton etc) and have networked with multiple professionals and received brilliant career advice as well as assistance from some. However I have still found myself without job.

I am posting here to see if any other professionals may be able to give me some feedback as to what I am doing wrong.

If you don't know anyone at the company.. have you been sending out follow up emails to the recruiters? Or reaching out on LinkedIn to introduce yourself and your interest?

I have been applying directly through the company pages and using tools like LinkedIn's job page and Glassdoor,

I started by going up to London to meet with professionals after emailing them however after reading your comment it made me realise that I had stopped doing so. Thank you for reminding me the importance of "it's not what you know" and I shall hastily start messaging and emailing recruiters as well as people from the company itself.

I never thought about messaging the recruiters directly after applying, this does make sense and I have no idea why I had never thought of it!
