I just received my bonus numbers, and while the dollar amount is technically the highest I’ve ever seen, it feels low compared to our team’s performance this year. We blew our targets out of the water, but management is citing market volatility as a reason to cap the payouts. It’s frustrating because I know the MDs are still taking home massive cuts. I’m debating whether to push back during my review or just start polishing my resume for a move. Has anyone successfully negotiated a bonus adjustment after the initial number was already set?

How long do you spend on core subjects if not a goal on IEP? So if most goals are life skills (putting shoes on, zipping, etc.) how long would you spend on math during math hour or how much do you worry about writing activities if they can’t write etc?

Completely and totally miserable at my firm and just need a space to vent because my friends are tired of hearing about it. I wish the worst part about it was the amount of work, rather than the completely toxic culture, lack of appreciation, arbitrary and back/breaking deadlines, lack of mentorship/feedback/training, and the fact that the associates act like they don’t even know each other. 1st yr at a nyc v50 firm doing general transactional work. I know the lateral market for transactional lawyers is hot but not as hot for juniors. I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
