This is helpful for the classroom. I found Love and Logic to be a huge help when dealing with the classroom management aspect of behaviors during teaching.
Sending good vibes your way 🙏☮️ ✌️ 🍀 🙏

I can vouch for Love and Logic. I don't think it's as helpful for teachers dealing with behavioral issues in special ed classrooms, but is a great concept for pretty much everyone else.
First Days of School by Harry Wong.
You did not mention grade level. I teach High School and I do refuse Freshman. I know about myself my patience for their immaturity does not mesh. I have rules and expectations that have helped me in the classroom and consistency. That is not to say I do not have issues arise but I can handle them pretty quickly. I describe my room as dictatorship with their behavior ruling if we become more of a democracy in the end. However they start seeing my quirky side pretty fast and know that I will back up my rules but also care about them.
You're not alone!
Capturing Kids Hearts is the best thing I’ve ever seen.
The biggest problem I’ve seen with people I’ve mentored as far as class management goes is that they won’t follow through with fidelity. There’s always a reason that they can find for why they should back off or let something slide.
Management is similar to leadership. And so if you study leadership you will help yourself. But it’s not exactly the same. You can lead a class and that will work for management. But you can manage a class without leading it and the class can still be very functional.
There are several different approaches, and I’ve seen several that work. But you have to pick which approach you will take and then follow through and not mix and match or try to do your own thing.
I wish you the best. You are doing the right thing by looking to improve.
It’s also possible that you are working with the wrong age level. Middle school requires more strictness than either elementary or high school in some ways. And a change of scenery might not hurt. Consider small and rural for a change up because the cultural differences might fit your style better.
But figure out what approach works with your personality and then manage on purpose. A good manager could teach any subject, but a bad manager is useless. It should be the single most worked on skill for teachers in college in my opinion. But it’s taken for granted. My daughter is about to finish her education degree and didn’t have a dedicated class on management. But she is elementary and I’m secondary, and maybe that’s why it was emphasized more.
I agree with Oklahoma High school; Capturing Kids Hearts is easy to implement, holds students accountable, develops good appropriate relationships, but has to be done with fidelity and consistency! I began using CKH about 15 years into my 39 year career: what a game changer! While I always had ‘control’ , CKH now gave me better tools and better environment. I wish you the best, as education is a great calling.
Make sure your students always are busy during class. Less of a chance to get off task that way.
Teach like a champion is a good book. Also consider switching grade levels/environments. Some of the best middle school teachers couldn't handle third graders and vice versa. Just need to find the right fit.
