I recently interviewed for an inside sales role I was genuinely pumped about. The recruiter even had me polish my resume for a second interview, which I sent back the same day. Then 2 weeks of silence. After I emailed him, he finally replied, "Another candidate has been identified as the finalist." Isn't it common courtesy to send a quick rejection before a candidate chases you down? Feeling a bit salty about the lack of communication. Am I overthinking this?

It used to be, but not so much anymore. I know there are a lot of genuinely overworked recruiters, but it’s burning a ton of bridges in the meantime. I’ve had that happen a few times now. The recruiter approaches me and then disappears off the face of the Earth.

That's a tough situation, and you're not wrong to feel frustrated. From my end, the goal is always to communicate clearly and quickly, whether it's good news or bad. In busy recruiting environments, the final stages can sometimes become a bit messy, and communication can unfortunately fall through the cracks. It's definitely a courtesy to let candidates know, and I'm sorry that wasn't your experience.

How much would my tech stack and language be a factor in getting selected in faang or good product based companies?

I read everywhere that only DSA and system design is needed, but I'm still concious about my tech stack.

How much of a paycut should I expect going from Strategy & Analytics Manager to Product Manager? (First PM Job). Almost at the final stage with a startup of about 50 people (Series A). Recruiter said feedback have been positive and I have one last meeting with the head of engineering remaining for overall fit interview tomorrow.
