Has anyone used redfin to sell a home and save on paying commission? Is it really just 1%?

I used Redfin. It was great. Had an offer in hand before the first open house from the neighbors. I was happy to let it go quickly as I was tired of having it as a property.

Yes, the seller pays the buyer’s agent as well which is the standard 2.5% (or whatever is standard in your area, can be 3%).

Few caveats:
- the 1% is Redfin’s fee (think it’s now 1.5%). You’ll still have to pay 2% to 2.5% to other broker.
– if 1% is under Redfin’s dollar minimum, it will be greater than 1%. Since this figure is rather high, I think Redfin’s 1% promise is rather misleading (see: below).

That said, they did a good job when they sold my rental. Sold quickly for above-listing.

Novice investor here so please bear with me. I opened a vanguard account dec 2019 and invested around $1K..over the course of the year I invested about $68k.. I just checked the total gains and it shows about $10k. That’s about 14% gain via investment in small amounts in vgt, zoom, tsla, ark, vtsax etc..Is it fair to assume 15% gain year over year ?

I see two crowds these days. One thinks housing market will crash. The other thinks housing market will soar.

The contrarian in me makes me think this is a decent indication that housing market will stagnate (or increase minimally) for a few years.

As a general rules, I feel like the majority cannot foresee a crash/surge coming. The prevalence of such expectations would hamper the pre-conditions necessary for such a dramatic change.
