’ve gotten used to it at this point. It seems like some people don’t care at all that we’re closed and have families to get back to. They shop and shop and act like they had no idea we were closing.
It's awful! Rude, lack of respect for others, and rules are made for everyone except them! I love it when certain regular customers have $200-$400 worth of merchandise and then after coming up to check out 10-15 minutes after we have closed they expect exchanges and they start inspecting each item and trying clothes on to make a final decision about what items they are definitely going to buy! You should have done that an hour ago! You have been shopping for 4 hours ! Addicted to retail therapy and they just make me want to ask them if they had any parenting as a child because they missed the lesson on etiquette and the message that it is not their world and anyone else is just living in it. 🤬🤬🤬 We can't make closing announcements or dim lights, or even give them a helpful reminder that we are closing in 15 minutes! It has caused sales to be lost because the customers don't want to rush and actually complain about the policy of no announcements! The good ones, the regulars that make the job bearable are anxious during evening shopping since our moron DM stopped closing announcements. So if we close at 9 and customers are still checking out at 9:30, we can't start the closing process until after the last customer has left and the doors are locked. Retail needs to unionize

Every retail worker knows that moment. Somehow “closing in five minutes” sounds like an invitation to take one last slow lap. You try to stay polite while mentally counting the extra minutes. I’ve learned the clearer and earlier the reminders, the better, but there’s always that one person who treats closing time like a soft guideline.

I have had moments when I was in a time crunch and I needed to visit a store last minute. It was never to browse, and I always respected the workers there wanted to go home too. I knew what I needed, was in and out. However, I know some folks wouldn’t take the same considerations. I’m in hospitality, I know what it feels like to have customers draaaaaag my closing time out
