Curious as to what other Associate hours are for the folks in the bowl?

Has anyone had much luck looking for HR jobs through recruitment agencies? If so, how was your experience and how does it compare to internal recruitment processes?

How much ebb and flow in work is normal? Mid-size firm, civil lit. Some weeks are 40+ hours billed, but others are around 20. When should you start worrying?

How did your SO take you wanting a prenup. This is a dealbreaker for me..

I know many of the bigger firms had layoffs but I imagine they have much more in the pipeline/budget/resources whereas boutique firms may or may not have had layoffs (is there a reputable source about this online?) but have fewer of the other items.

I feel like I am a "grass is always greener on the other side" person and I for example as European would love to spend some time in the US, I came across many people doing the move in the other direction, so I am curious to see different opinions from people growing up in different places.

Has anyone had luck negotiating a fully remote position for a firm that's hybrid? Firm is the next city over and would be a 2 hour+ commute round trip and I really don't want to do that more than a couple times a month.

I’m an associate at a regional BigLaw firm in the Midwest. I’m in one of the smaller markets for my firm, and while salary is at the top of the local market, I do work for other higher-rate markets and bill BigLaw hours. My comp is roughly 20% of my annual billables, while comp for associates in larger markets is roughly 30% of annual billables. Am I getting screwed?

Getting really frustrated with my job. Im by far the busiest associate my year level, and there are 2 people in my group who literally have no work at all. I feel like I keep missing targets and the partners are disappointed in me, but it’s hard to motivate when I see others not doing anything. I know I should be grateful bc the partners think I’m better than the others (and job security) but I can’t seem to convince myself to care.
