Do all firms prorate bonuses for time spent on parental leave? I assumed so, but recently heard from a friend her V50 didn’t (~5 years ago).

Would anyone be able to share the BCG London parental leave policy (both parents)? Is a minimum tenure required? Thanks!

Hey all- looking for some travel advice. My wife and I just had our second kid in October and we overlap during the month of January for parental leave. We live in the northeast and want to take a trip somewhere warm for a week in Jan. Any suggestions? Florida seems like the obvious choice. I’m looking for ideas in specific parts of Florida where we could rent a house with a pool, walkable to activities for our 3yo son, maybe near the beach, etc. I’m also open to non-Florida ideas but US only.

I’m 11 weeks. Started interviewing before I knew I was pregnant and expecting to hear today about an offer (or not). Not sure what the parental leave policies are, but I feel weird starting a leadership position knowing I’ll be out in 6 months. Am I feeling guilt for no reason? Obviously I haven’t told them. If I don’t get the job, I’m still looking due to a toxic work environment and unrealistic expectations from the practice lead. (She calls PTO “partial” time off.) I also have a 1 year old.

ID attorneys: what’s your firm’s parental leave policy? My firm gives 6 weeks paid maternity leave and 0 paternity leave. I’m told this is the norm for ID, but that can’t be true in 2022… can it?! 😫What are your firms giving for mat/pat leave?

The company I work for in the construction industry is revising its parental leave policy. I’m aware of lawsuits related to equal bonding time. The updated draft policy gives 8 weeks to birthing parent to recover & then 4 weeks to each parent for bonding. Reactions? I would appreciate any insights.

I work for a global company and I’m trying to streamline our leave of absence administration. Our goal is to set global minimum standards for particular leaves such as Paid Parental Leave inclusive of federal and state offsets (where applicable). Does anyone have any vendors that they use who can handle global leave administration including potential payroll calculations? Thank you!

Does anyone know Willkie's parental leave policy for non-birthing parents who intend to be primary caregivers? Chambers says 18 weeks primary, 4 weeks non-primary. Considering applying to Willkie, but need to know if they meant birthing parents by primary caregiver since my wife and I (female) are trying for a kiddo next year, and she is carrying. Would really appreciate insight should anyone have access to that info.

Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷

DLA Piper: I’m very interested in lateraling here but I’m about to go on parental leave until March. I had a recruiter reach out and I’m trying to decide whether to throw my hat in now or wait until after leave. Does anyone have any insight into their litigation needs? It seems like they’re recruiting across the board for litigators, so I’m afraid they might not be looking to hire more next year.

Curious about others' experience with parental leave. HR knows I'm on leave/they processed everything, which has resulted in me being unable to bill any time whatsoever in our time keeping system. Nevertheless, even while on leave, I keep receiving work-related questions and assignments, despite having wrapped up everything time sensitive before I went out.

Any thoughts on how to handle/set boundaries? I wouldn't be so bothered if I weren't effectively blocked from entering time.

Has anyone gone or attempted to go back to a previous company/team/role after some time away? I spent nearly 4 years at a company/team that I loved but left almost 3 years ago for a higher paying external opportunity after our first child was born. I’ve regretted the move immensely and no longer feel fulfilled on the path that I’m going down, so I am now thinking about boomeranging back after my Parental Leave is over next summer. Any advice on how to navigate?
