You probably did everyone a favor. I wouldn't sweat it. Legally they can't do anything about it. I got in trouble from HR at my last company for this same thing.
Pro
Agreed, I likely helped more than hurt.
Probably both, unfortunately. For you, that is. Your coworkers should theoretically benefit, though I'm not sure they will since realizing you're underpaid doesn't make an employer willing to pay you more appear out of thin air.
Pro
Transparency can help people see the problem, but it doesn’t magically fix it. At least now coworkers have info to advocate for themselves, management being mad kind of proves why those conversations matter.
Pro
Is it "divisive"? Amongst management, it is. Should you be worried? Probably, but not about this. Did you do everyone a favour? Absolutely. Did you do anything illegal? Absolutely not. I wouldn't worry about it. Although whoever narced on you has some 'splaining to do.
Pro
Exactly! It’s wild how sharing info that actually helps people is seen as a problem.
Pro
I don’t get why it’s such a big problem that we want to know what are coworkers salary is. I wouldn’t worry about it but I wouldn’t do it again. I think you did everyone a favor because I know they wanted to know as well.
Pro
Exactly! It’s crazy that transparency is seen as a problem. I think people just want fairness, not drama. Lesson learned though 😅.
