Have you tried making a countdown until summer break you can look at every day? This helps me immensely at the end of the year! And remember your why! Seriously though, it does get really hard sometimes to keep going and smiling when you are burnt out. I just try to remember that even through a lot of nonsense I do love my job and what I get to do.
You are not alone OP. I think we are all feeling the burnout creep in, especially since we are getting closer and closer to the end of the year. Hang in there though. We will get through this.
Use AI to help you grade if you have essays or written work. Have the kids grade their own work if at all possible. Ask yourself, Do I really need to grade this or can I do a quick check to see it’s done reasonably well and mark it in the gradebook as an “Understanding Check”?
Talk to other staff members about how you can unite to ask for changes to meetings/bureaucracy. Before you complain, go in with solutions and others by your side.
In other words, instead of talking about surviving, talk about changing.
I'm with you. I think the most important thing is maintaining our health and emotional well-being. I found myself dragging the past few days and realized I have got myself dehydrated. I'm using DripDrop and trying to get hydrated.
How long have you been at this position/grade level? Maybe a change is in order??
