Is anyone else in this weird zone where you're too senior to be up and coming but somehow not quite the unicorn in today's market. Often time seems like companies are now looking for goldilocks in the market nowadays

The perfect candidate is recent college grad. Compliant and inexperienced. Companies are indeed looking for unicorns- only problem is even 20 somethings get burnt- these millennial’s do have something right, work life balance is a priority for employees and the employer.

Are you getting feedback or shut out of things or just your feeling? Only asking because I feel job descriptions are written so aspirational in that way that no one can truly meet the exact description

That is exactly how it feels. Employer market, and they can make a wishlist of anything. I’m kind of just biding my time and will make a move when the market is better and expectations normalize.

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...
