Welp, I won’t be buying Balenciaga ever again. It’s so disturbing, and whoever thought it a clever marketing ploy, should be fired.

Asking advice from a recruiter: I’ve been recently laid off :( This week I took some time to reflect, talk to friends and family. I want to be more thoughtful on my next move and although interviewing right away would be logical I feel I want to take a break and some time for myself. Take a month or two off working and use that time to plan thoughtfully on my next move. Would having that gap in my resume be an issue when I go back to the job market?

I’m finding that a weird side effect of losing my job in this climate is ad agencies taking advantage of my weakened position. They get in touch, proactively or in response to my reaching out, and they want to hire me as they are in good shape. When I reveal I was laid off, the offer changes to freelance or maybe nothing. My work, awards, the fact that they know me and approached me in the first place should be enough. I don’t want to lie about my situation. Any ideas how to avoid this?

Does anyone get fired for being behind on work? Meeting the target for hours but work is submitted late. I don’t mean after any litigation deadlines or limitation periods. Work just takes awhile to get done. Or is it just having low hours and the partners eventually stop giving you work?

I got laid off by my company, a tech company, and now being put on a garden leave for 2 months. At first i thought it was kind of them to put me on a garden leave, but then I do the math and is better off getting laid off on paper so by law (im in Southeast Asia btw) the company is required to give me a compensation, which in calculation, is bigger than a 2 months worth salary. Employer is changing the org structure to put me in a new role. The new role isn’t the right fit, and is reporting to someone who’s a peer (he hasn’t been promoted). I was a month in as Workday HCM Consultant with Accenture. They immediately throw me into the HCM courses to obtain my WD HCM certification. There are three parts HCM Essentials, HCM Applied, and HCM Practical. The passing score is 70 or above. I scored a 62 on the Essentials portion, I passed Applied, and at the end of this week Practical. During class, I received an “immediate connect” Team call and I was fired because of my low score. I'm devastated, and shocked. Yesterday was my birthday.

The severance package at Meta for laid off employees almost makes it nice to be laid off depending on what your personal situation is….. personally wouldn’t mind getting 4+ months of full pay to reset and think about what’s next 😬
