I don’t care what your title or position is, take 5 minutes to learn how to use PowerPoint, keynote, google slides or whatever presentation tool you are using at a basic level. If a presentation specialist or graphic designer has already created the deck, respect their time, use common sense and follow the rules established.

And for the art directors that have to concept, comp, do deck design and then clean it up again and again, major respect as well.

If someone reached out for referral and they weren’t upfront about their circumstances (recently laid off, etc), would you continue with the process or tell them you’ll try but don’t do it?

Interviewing for senior audit role at a small tech company, interviewed with 7 people so far. Recruiter ghosts me for 1 month and now she wants me to do more interviews. During the 1 month of ghosting I applied for an internal transfer at EY and have interview next week. If I get the transfer, I’d rather stay at EY - should I decline or accept the tech company’s 8th interview?

I know agencies across the board did some layoffs right before the holidays, but when do we think hiring will pick up again? Getting to a point where I feel like I need to start thinking about a change.

Negotiating an offer from a large bank, they told me their compensation package was 90k base and 20-30k bonus for an associate position. I told them I had higher qualifications and experience than the role’s description and it would be an easier decision to make if the base offered was within 110k-150k. They said they would take my points into consideration before making their offer. That was 9 business days ago, should I reach out and ask when can I expect their formal offer?

Hi everyone - I am currently performing well as a CSM at a SMB SaaS company (1yr CSM+4yrs/non tech sales). I am super grateful for getting my foot in the door at my current company, but I will eventually be looking to make the jump to a big name enterprise role for a multitude of reasons(more pay for workload,better product,etc). I would love to get some specific recommendations on how to best land a big time role? (Certs, networking, start from the bottom at desired company, etc)

External Audit folks - I’ve received an offer from EY GDS for Senior 2 for 10 LPA fixed. I want to know if this is standard or less, I’ve recently been promoted at Deloitte as Senior 1 for 12.5 LPA Now I just want to know if it’s worth negotiating with the HR or I should stfu and stay with Deloitte.

When agencies post pics of their white staff, and boasts that they’re all about diversity, I call BS. A diverse house doesn’t mean the IT person or the receptionist- unless they’re also creatives!:)

Does anyone have experience working for a boss who has high expectations (which is preferable to me over a boss with low expectations) but who, although they recognize not everyone on the team brings the “same value”, seems to give the low performers passes on bad behavior but then essentially gives his “high performers” slaps on the wrist in the form of “feedback” for simply asking for additional support or context to a project?

I got an offer for Deloitte Canada New Grad Tax Analyst to start January 3 since I will be finished with my degree in December. However, I’ll need to push back two weeks due to needing to apply for PGWP and I don’t believe my university will be completed with my documentation by the start date. Although this is an attorney bowl (or maybe because it is and I believe we are an intelligent bunch, both intellectually and emotionally speaking), I post this here in addition to the startup bowl: I am looking to start a clothing brand that either donates or invests a portion of profits in innovative companies started by diverse founders. This means at minimum, PoC and LGBTQ+. I welcome any thoughts on this from folks in this bowl and any ideas you may have that would make my idea better.

I applied for a position that would be a leaner shift for me. The company is my dream company. I was told I should have an offer by this Friday. A higher position opened up today, and I fit all the requirements. Is it a bad idea to inquire about that position while waiting for an offer for the other?
