Hey all, just wondering if anyone here has been through the referral process with McKinsey? An associate partner referred me two weeks ago and I haven't heard back yet. Trying to align McKinsey with my other interviews so hoping people here can give me a better idea. Also spoke with a senior partner a few days ago who said timeline shouldn't be an issue (after I explained everything) , but not sure if they actually looked into it or not.

Went through the first round interview at EY w 2 managers, with HR saying that I'll be due for the next round with Partner or Associate Partner soon (this was mid December 2020) - just got updated that they have chosen to proceed with another candidate 😭😔 Really wanted this role to pan out - numb doesn't come close to how I feel right now

Happy NYE everyone! Honestly a bit of a weird question - but I can’t tell if I got a referral for McK or not. I thought I didn’t but I actually might have? Associate partner directed me to a recruiter & then we had a chat recently. How does the referral system for McK work? More details in thread:

Hi All - Associate Partner / Principal at MBB. Deciding whether to play out rest of my consulting career (whether a few years or longer) in US vs. UK. US obviously pays better, but largely a wash factoring for exchange rate / cost of living. Wondering if spending next 2-5 years in UK would impact comp/ exit ops for exit to US? E.g. lower comp/ perceptions of smaller market experience. Appreciate it!

Feeling a little lost. Playing the manager role on a project and leading a team of 7. I report directly into an associate partner but running the entire client engagement on my own. I feel like I am not learning anything from them, no mentorship or guidance. I feel like I haven’t grown at all in the past 6-8 months. I’m someone who learns by doing. How can I grow and learn? 😭

I find it supremely fake when folks from outside McK write on LinkedIn- “Engagement Manager or Associate Partner” instead of “Manager or Senior Manager”. Mostly observed among Deloitte folks (some EY as well) who find it aspirational to get McK title tagged to their current firm role. Nothing is more, nothing is less guys

If you interview with OW or Deloitte for a senior position, let’s say Sr Manager / Principal or Associate Partner, what does that process look like? Do you still have to go through the case grind or is it more about your client and team leadership and biz dev experience?

Could someone at McKinsey explain this? My understanding is that the hierarchy at McKinsey goes from Junior Associate to Associate to Engagement Manager to Associate Partner and finally Partner. Or do these positions align more to an Engagement Manager level?
