I’m a millennial and I say def not acceptable. I don’t think showing your stomach at work is appropriate in a corporate setting.
+1
Young millennial/Gen Z here and that’s a hard no for me too. I mean, assuming midriff is showing. Crop top with something high waisted and no skin showing would be fine
Yeah the pants were high waisted (above belly button) but still a couple inches of stomach showing.
Hard no also, even in tech in the Bay Area. Draws too much attention to your appearance.
Bare stomach definitely not. And that’s coming from someone who works in advertising where the dress code is unusually casual.

I think the only place you can get by is those super trendy startup LA/NYC, Goop-esq style companies. Millennial in tech and crop tops would be a hard no in my realm.
This or a fashion house job. That’s it. I don’t even know why women want to wear a crop at work - I’d be so self conscious.
Millennial and no, not ok. If you were in fashion or worked at a fashion magazine, sure, but I would not consider this appropriate for tech.
Hard now for me as well, but I’m also Gen X. I’ve been in the technology sector for three decades now and while it is much laxer in that people can wear jeans and T-shirts I think a crop top is really pushing it.
My Gen Z daughters all give it a hard no!
Consult with you HR - don’t make it your decision
If stomach/skin is showing absolutely not. I’ve worked in some super casual/tech/fashion forward workplaces/offices and it wouldn’t fly there either.
Millennial and absolutely not acceptable! How do these younger folks think that’s normal? 😂
Truly wondering, who cares? I largely don’t find other people distracting but that’s just me. I like to be comfy in my work clothes. like if she feels comfy good for her.
Honestly it makes me question her judgement. Maybe it shouldn’t, but it does. It’s hard to look at her as a serious aspiring leader when her stomach is showing.
