Is it okay to ask for contribution to college funds instead of gifts and toys for my daughter 1st birthday? We have a house party coming up and I can't deal with more toys.

If it were a party with just family, I would say yes it’s ok. If you have her friends coming over (not just family), I would not do that. Just return the items for store credit or something and invest an equivalent amount into your 529.

It's mostly our close friends and family. Thanks for the advice.

“In lieu of bringing a gift, please considering contributing to our daughter’s future by contributing to their 529 College Savings Fund fund....”

Thank you. I just didn't want to sound like we are begging for $$

Partners (or anyone else that has sold work), at what level did you first sell work? Was selling work even expected of you at that level? And how did you go about it? I’m curious because I think one of the least acknowledged/trained skills in consulting is sales/relationship building and management. I hope the answers here can help others!

Tesla owners, I am contemplating an M3, and have a few targeted questions:
1. How is the experience driving in East Coast winters and on slippery roads? How is the battery power drain in winters?
2. If you cannot install the charging station, how did you find the experience with regular charging? I live in a condo so I cannot install.
3. What are your thoughts on service for longer drives / rural areas and how does the lack of spare tire affect your decision?
Please advise on other aspects.

Curious to know on average what Staff Claims Adjusters are making at the big names like State Farm, USAA, Geico, Nationwide, etc. I have been doing this for 4 years, have a degree & industry specific designations - I am starting to feel like I am being underpaid and manipulated not to believe so! 🆘

I’m up for senior manager. It’s important to me that I get it. I am starting to get anxious and like stressed. How do I stop it? The decisions have probably already been made and they will be announced in a few months. I just want to stop stressing. How do I do that? I also have a senior under me that constantly asks me questions. Like I took it today, but going forward I’m going to tell him I’m in the middle of something and to please consolidate his questions in an email. It’s just so annoying

Is there some particular training that partners attend where they learn the most effective ways to drop work on associates at 5pm on Fridays? There are partners who literally give me no work Monday-Friday 4:59pm, but somehow feel entitled to drop crap on me at 5pm every Friday!!!

Help...my 6 mos old demands not simply to be held constantly but to also be carried around. He is only happy on his playmat or jumpy for 10 min max and then demands to be picked up. If you stop walking he begins to fuss. Days without nanny are becoming pointless voids of time and leave spouse and I with tired arms. I actually look forward to diaper changes as they are more fun. Is this normal? And if so, how long does it last? Anything I can do? Do I just let him cry and he grows out of it?

Expecting our first in about 6-8 weeks. Both my wife and I work at places with strong parental leave policies. We are considering staggering our leaves (I’d take a couple weeks right when the baby is born, then go back to work until her leave runs out, then go out) to save $$ on child care. Would also have a bit of family help during the first 4-6 weeks as well. Any experienced dads think this is a bad idea?

Toddler toilet training: my daughter is 2.5 years old and we are late with toilet training with her. Any tips for toilet training? She just sits on the potty and doesn’t do anything. Thanks
