Not sure whether to be honest or not in this situation. I have decided that I want to leave my job and do a masters degree. I’m planning to leave my job at the end of June, should I warn my boss now so she can start hiring? I don’t want her to be blindsided by my decision and hiring is very slow at the moment. Plus if they hire someone I can train the transition will be easier? But I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot if they were thinking or giving me a pay rise or promoting me?

I would honestly wait. I know people who have decided to pursue MBAs and let their boss know early on, only to be met with hostility for the rest of their time at the job.

Can I share my humble opinion?
MSc doesn’t matter IF and only IF you are working on the same industry you want to work on.
I believe that the XP you can get working in the industry is much more important than another degree (in most of the cases)! It’s better for your CV to have practical XP I think.

Depending on your position, you may be asked to leave immediately. Just give them the required notice.

Why not work on it with a paycheck, rather than debt, unless you have a solid scholarship. I am working on my 2nd graduate degree. Employer-paid, degrees are the best.

I did this in 2016. I resigned to pursue my degree abroad. I told them a month ahead, so they hired and I trained the new person. It really depends on your current relationship with your boss. Honest conversation and heads up are always good

DO NOT provide more notice that absolutely necessary. You’re likely in the UK, so you have a contract. Provide the contracted notice, no more. All employees are expendable for any reason at all times, protect yourself because your employer will not.

Working as CAL Manager with Accenture S&C India. Offered ~GBP 76.5K (fixed plus flexi) at Manager Grade by Deloitte London.

Prior to Accenture, I have already served as S&O Manager with Deloitte India for ~1.5 yrs - so this would be my second stint with Deloitte as Manager "again".

2 questions:
1. Should I ask for Senior Mgr (AD) grade - to which they have already said NO
2. Is GBP 76.5K sitting at the lower end of M grade in Deloitte UK? What should be a good expectation for the role

Hi guys, I got an offer from x and i discussed that with my current. At 1st current said they can only give 30% increment. I said I can't stay with this cause i got 70% and expect at least 50%(as the 70% included VP and the current org don't have vp, they have bonus). Then they said they can do max 45%. I really wanted to stay here so I said okay to current. Then now hr called me and said they are matching the offer(no vp). What should I make out of it? What made them change their mind?

Should I accept the offer or renegotiate?

I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

Hi everyone!

This post is specifically geared towards those of you who have worked in BOTH the corporate and small (startups) company environment.

Here is my situation: I’ve worked in different startups here and there accumulatively 3 years now. While I enjoyed my coworkers and how my employers treat the staff, as well as the wide range projects I get to be involved in, I feel like I’m stuck in a sense that I’m not learning and growing at the speed and depth I would like. Which is best? A law degree or a master's in international relations? Those are where my interests lie. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!
