I've been hired as a new VP of Product over a small product team (4 PMs). One of them is currently a director of product. Any thoughts on how to structure the team and reporting structure?

Normally there is at least a layer btw director and VP. And are they all peers, or do they currently report to the director?

If there isn’t clear role authority- you’ll run into significant problems. Like who has the final say?

Also since it appears that the are coming in from the outside - pay some respect to the internal folks on the team who didn’t get selected for the role. You don’t want to lose that talent or organizational history.

What's the current role of the director of product like? I'd get a feel for that and their relationship with the PMs before making any firm decisions about structure. Whether you want them all reporting directly to you depends heavily on how heavy your workload is, honestly.

So a team of 5 includes a VP and a director? Is it expected to grow rapidly? I would expect 3-4 PMs report to a Manager, then several managers report to a director, who reports to a VP.

First time BDR here 3 months into my role and really struggling to book qualified meetings. The BDR that had my territory last was one of the worst performing on the team and since he inherited a new territory he’s been a top performer. Even my AE’s fully acknowledge how difficult it is to build a good pipeline in this territory. Any advice?
