I can't handle LinkedIn as well; it's just too fake. I had to take a break, too, because every scroll felt like a reminder of what I wasn’t doing and how perfect others' careers seemed. But when I zoomed out, I realized I’m actually proud of where I’m at. Now I check it once a week, tops. You’re not the only one, promise. If it doesn't help, don't waste your energy on it.
You're not alone, social media is engineered to make us feel bad about ourselves. Just remember: nobody is posting their failures. And people typically have a lot more failures than successes. People who post a lot are often trying to overcompensate for their own insecurities and feelings of imposter syndrome. Try not to compare yourself! :)
LinkedIn, for any industry just gives major anxiety. Everyone's posting about their wins or losses that somehow made them stronger. Or they're posting about how hard they work, their morning routine, etc. It's a bunch of motivational success mumbo jumbo that gets to be suffocating after being on it for awhile.
I find it pretty much impossible to read that site. I just check it out to see if anyone I know in real life has posted anything interesting. All the hyped up engagement bait and log rolling is just too annoying to wade through. It doesn't make me feel stressed, just annoyed.
I’ve gone through the same thing. It’s like LinkedIn became less about learning and networking, and more about comparing. Taking a step back from it was probably the best thing I did for my mental health.
