Great concept for a bowl! Here’s an ethics question/issue I struggle with — the application of the attorney no-contact rule in a governmental setting — e.g., when an attorney represents a resident on a matter and the attorney tries to deal with the relevant department even after the matter has been referred to the law department. Courtesy and professionalism may dictate that the attorney go through the law department, but I’m not sure it’s required by the rules. Anyone have experience with this?

Why do people in m&a tax make so much more than regular / international? Is the work that much harder / more challenging? It seems like they mostly just coordinate with other teams. Basically like jack of all trades but master of none?

Part of me thinks they can charge higher fees because they’re on a transaction and seen less as a “cost” center. On the sell side they’re helping generate revenue and on the buy side they’re doing the same, although not immediately
