What do you say when asked about compensation range during the phone screen / 1st interview? If it's an online app I leave it blank but when a person asks I just tell them a range because I don't know what else to say. I'm worried that I might miss out on a higher salary by telling them my range (85-90k for senior accountant in HCOL city).

I do most of the firm admin/COO type work for our 8 person firm. We outsource our book-keeping, billing and tax accounting. While I would prefer to hire an in-house firm admin, our recent efforts haven’t produced any promising candidates. It’s being recommended that I advertise for this position to be fully remote, but I’m not entirely comfortable with this idea. Does anyone know of a good company that provides firm admin services? I’m wondering if that might be a better fit?

Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there. I feel like I spend every week counting down to the weekend which kinda sucks.

Every Friday, I like to end on a high note by randomly going on mute during Zoom calls—and complimenting the muthaluvin fuk out of all my CDs and team members in the most disrespectful tone possible. Then I wonder—had they heard me, would they have been flattered or fukin pissed at my complimentary azz? The thrill of never knowing the answer to this lights my candyazz up with joy n fear like a coked-out Christmas tree.
