I say go for it! I’ve had a small nose stud for years in a client-facing role and no one has ever made a comment. As long as you’re confident and professional, most people don’t even notice.
I don't know if it would be all that controversial, but I also don't know what the point would be. Things like piercing and tattoos or odd hair colorings can all be distractions. And if you're trying to sell to people, it seems odd to bring distractions into what you're doing.
Why not!! I have been a manager for many years, including running the HR dept, elevating the guest experience, training, running several store’s including hosting many events. People want the experience you provide, your professional, friendly and a go getter a piercing will not will hinder your career. I myself have a septum and a Medusa ring . Not to mention several tattoos! That has never gotten in the way of my career.
