I think I may be getting laid off today: got a strange meeting invite for a call with my VP & HR. Any advice?
Due to Covid & a new VP, everything is changing at my company & senior reps are being micromanaged like new hires. Seniors are quitting and being fired like nothing I’ve ever seen. Anyone else?
I took over a vp position (as a director) when they were fired from my agency. Now, moving teams and they have hired another vp to replace me. I’ve asked for promotion and received silence in return
What exactly does VP mean? Contractual obligation, reports to President? Can’t get fired? What are pros and cons if any of a position like VP Creative Director, etc.
Negotiating an offer and want a severance package included in the terms from the new employer. What’s a good number for a VP Strategy?
I was sexually harassed (assaulted, specifically) at a work event more than a decade ago. The VP who did this was fired (I did not report; someone else reported). This VP is still in the same...
How frequently do people actually get fired? In two years I've seen two associates and one VP get the boot from my BB coverage group. Typical?
Just learnt that one VP in my client (ibank) suddenly disappeared (laid off). Which is very scary as her work is good, what is the most scary laid off story you have heard?
It’s so nice that every agency laying off people, have those left standing (and other agencies) trying to hustle jobs for their unemployed friends, but there are also a ton of people who were unemployed prior to Covid...so no severance, job hunting lot longer, and not earning income for longer time...hurting even MORE due to quarantine.
Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back. I was approached about helping grow a small executive recruitment firm focused on private technology companies. I’ll be chief of staff. The company takes $150k/placement + equity. The co expects to hit $1m in rev this year. They also invest in startups. Should I do it? Is this pigeonholing?
I’ve not been fired but I do empathize with those who have. I’ve wondered what one says when asked “why did you leave xyz”?
Why do D layoffs target newer people? I know of several people with great reviews + high utilization but less than 1 year tenure and were let go. Whereas some with several years of tenure but mediocre/good ratings still have a job.
Does filing for paternity leave now (baby due in a few months) offer any kind of protection during layoffs before it takes affect? Does it make it more difficult, legally, to let me go?
Laid off today because of drop in workload due to Corona Virus. Experienced attorney but first time working in Biglaw as a Staff Attorney. Should I be asking HR or Attys I worked for Ref Letter?
I’m being let go. It came as a surprise because my time with the company I’ve gotten positive feedback. A couple of weeks ago my boss told me that I was being put on a 30 day performance review plan. The last 2 weeks I’ve gotten positive feedback about improvement but on Thursday my boss decided to cut the review plan short and give me an end date. Since I’ve been there <1 year I’m getting 2 weeks severance. Is there room for severance negotiation? A friend in HR (not ad) told me I should ask.
At what point do you know that it’s time to leave a new position? I have always excelled in my previous jobs and left a cushy position for this agency. But since day one, I have been struggling to adjust. I started not long after lockdown began in my city, and am starting to regret taking this new job. I’m used of multitasking, constant stress, and looming deadlines at work. But I can’t seem to get the hang of things here. I am in constant fear of getting fired. I can’t sleep, eat. Help?!
I was laid off and searched for months for a new job. I’m finally here, happier than I could have imagined and we just lost my brand. There probably will be layoffs again, including me. I’m exhausted.
Does McK actually get the “most impactful” projects compared to BB? Is it really “no one has ever been fired for hiring McK”?
What were the things you wished you knew early into your career to help position you best for MBA applications? On a similar note, on average how many hours did you devote to your extracurriculars per week?
Hotel noob here. Now that Marriott and SPG are linked, is it more beneficial to stay at one or the other if I've been a long time marriott member?
ACD, taking Sr. AD role, coming from out of state. What is the average salary in Austin. I feel like I'm getting screwed over. Its a Tech company. Thanks!
Can someone please explain why my paycheck with my bonus is taxed a good 6 points more than my regular checks?
What happens if you overcharge holiday hours? I must have accidentally charged an extra holiday day and now have -8 hours showing.
Why is the ey immigration team so slow to respond to queries and think they are entitled not to respond .am unsure now whether I can go to the client site on Monday or not
For those of you who worked in Consulting, full time MBA ‘d, and then went back to Consulting, did you come in at the same level? If you went industry, were you taking a pay cut or position downgrade?
Can't get cleared on coinbase and can't get into binance, even with the open window today. Where else can I buy?
Just got a 15% raise with my promo to SC, now a bit above 100k base salary. Happy with the large increase, but wondering if i am still peaving money on the table by not jumping ship? Have 4 YOE, primarily federal projects focusing on implementation, transformation, and tech work. Whats the general market landscape for someone in my shoes?
Not sure if we will be back to client sites this summer..but in case we are, where do you ladies buy trendy & professional dresses for work? Not a big fan of the dresses Loft has right now.
Ordering groceries today. What are your fav savory snacks? Preferably healthy. I’m a huge fan of dried seaweed 😅 and want to try new/unique snacks.
