Unfortunately this means that they are low-balling everyone. Inflation-only raises are common, but they're not ideal at all. In my current company, the most anyone gets is 3% on a consistent basis, and you have to really fight to get more.

I heard it's the first year for this. They are preparing for an economic hit as we are a CPG company.
My company does a blend of both. There's a general expectation of a standard (below recent inflation) raise, but managers have the discretion to ding some in order to free budget to reward others on the team.
My advice may vary based on the type of company you work for and your goals. Can you share more?
We’re usually get 2.5 and top performers get a bigger raise, like 4%. When I was new and talked to people on how to get ahead and consistently got comments…the extra effort isn’t worth the tiny difference in increase. I used to work in a consult organizations and top performers could get close to a 10% raise, but promotions were always the big bumps in pay.

That's what I've taken away...I put in all the extra work for a raise and am only hit with a 2.7% when I was going to ask for a 7%. They low balled me out of college, I never negotiated.
standard but not good or fair
