About to enter my third trimester and just recommend to be honest with your teams about what you need. I’ve been incredibly fortunate that the universe has conspired to give me the slowest year of my career while being pregnant and I’m barely surviving at 1700 annualized hours.
I’ve lost all three of my previous pregnancies due to progesterone failure caused by stress from work, so I’m pretty comfortable telling people to F off for this one.
Congratulations 🎉🎉 and my condolences 😞
Told them as soon as that positive test hit
Ugh I don’t know how anyone does this! Sounds awful
I did it via lots of protein in the morning (and minimum 100g protein daily) and.... drumroll.....the midmorning mini nap. It's a lifesaver. Find a couch and a closed door around 1030am (ask for an accommodation for this if needed) and give yourself 20minutes of shuteye.
Same. Kept a blanket in the car. Would eat lunch in office, then turn the car on with light AC, turn seat warmers on and nap 20-60 minutes, prob 1-3 times a weeks around weeks 5-8
This is my special interest. Tell your closest supervisors as SOON as you start to feel it’s impacting your work. It’s for your protection. I told my former big law boss the DAY i found out (we were uniquely close), and it was huge having someone to help get work off of me and allow me some space to slack a bit first trimester. I then told basically everyone by 10 weeks because i was violently ill and needed to wfh.
I told my manager at 8 weeks because that’s when the morning sickness was kicking my butt. It was also 2022 and there were still Covid flares that were freaking me out so I was working from home more often on the basis of being part of a sensitive population. Mine was fine with informal accommodations but if I was doing it now, I’d document everything formally just as a CYA. I also absolutely did mini naps as needed to get through the day…it was that or fall asleep on meetings lol. What you’re feeling is normal and just remember your body is currently running a 9 month marathon - be gentle to yourself!! Congrats!
Thank you!
I lost a lot of hours in my first trimester. You just have to give yourself grace (easier said than done if you’re pushing to hit hours, I know). I told my practice group leader at around 10.5 weeks pregnant, but I told the partner I worked most closely with at around 6-7 weeks because I was so sick. If it’s feasible, allow yourself to outsource as much as you can to help yourself along (order food that you can stomach, have someone else clean your house, have your partner or someone else walk your dog, etc.). It’s not easy but you will surprise yourself when you make it through, because you can make it through!
Congratulations to you and thank you for your sound advice!

Ugh this makes me nervous as someone approaching 6 weeks and still feeling completely fine… sorry you’re dealing with this and hope your team is accommodating!
The likelihood that you won’t continue to be fine is low! I’ve pretty much felt like crap from the beginning tbh and it hasn’t let up.
