It is great that you acknowledge how you feel and sharef it.
Joining groups is great advice (would have loved to hear that a few years ago when I was searching).
Also, while applying and searching, go to coffee shops or libraries. If your friends work from home, join them; they work and you do your job hunt.
Feeling lonley in this era is very common, include some sort of walk or outing on your routine. While obvious, we tend to set it aside at times.
Keep writting in this group as you go theough different moments. You'll always have at least one person supporting you.
I love the empathy here and totally agree.
OP, I’ve been in your shoes. I remember getting out of this feeling by spending 15 hours a week job hunting max (so about 3 hours a day) and then look for volunteer opportunities to help out my community. It helped me get out of the house and interact and meet new people while doing some good.
Rising Star
Get a schedule that includes
Getting out of your house everyday.
Exercise
Job search
Follow up
Play music... do not sit in a silent house/apt
Stay off media not related to your job search or support
Also get involved in some type of volunteer work that gets you out of the house. Preferably something regular where you are likely to see the same people.
You are still in shock and probably depressed
While you’re looking for a job, maybe try to join a stay at home moms group or a homeschooling group to get around people. Even if you don’t have kids, you could see if it would be ok to join to make friends with the moms. Maybe offer to each something that aligns with your expertise. Or go volunteer at a nonprofit of interest. Hope you find a new role soon but take advantage of the break while you have it!
So sorry. We pour our energy and talent into our work, and it becomes part of our identity. I hope you can get on a schedule to feel productive and involved in some activities— maybe a local hiking or running group would be fun. Good luck.
