This is true, product based companies are paying this package. Frankly it depends a lot on your domain, I work on storage domain along with Python programming.
People with similar profile are getting this package. Some companies that pay 35 to 40+ LPA fixed are below :

I am also not sure as my husband yoe 10 got 22 fixed from Company1 and another company also giving him 22 as ctc not fixed. Yesterday he got call from EY and they said they can give max 18. Sapient also called and said they can give 10% on top of the offer letter. Even I am trying to understand this. He is giving interviews as Functional +Automation (Selenium) Tester.
There are many ways to get such offers provided you apply for sdet roles There are companies which you dont generally hear but they are paying huge sum like gojeck, halodocs,etc. They have 4 rounds atleast- domain round, data struct and algo, system design and then techno managerial. Most of the qas get kicked out in the second round for ds and algo.
I am 10 YOE and have offer of 28LPA but when I ask them more than 30LPA , most of them don't respond back.
It's true new roles have evolved so companies are ready to pay if a person has all the necessary skills.
Yes it’s true , most of the product based companies but you should be good at
1.DS and algorithms .
2.Ag least 3 tools like ( Selenium + REST API + Appium or performance).( and good exposure on framework design and modification)
3. Good debugging skills ( to provide RCA of any issues ).
4.Hands on few tools like docker , Aws , Jenkins , kibana , Kafka (not all companies ), it’s vary based on tech stack .
5.You should able to work independently.
6.Good manual testing skill as well .
Note : google QA salary not same as any service based company QA salary ( my intention here is it all depends on your skill set and work )
At last good negotiation skills
Because they are greedy and beg more and more money from 10 different companies at the same time. In my opinion, such people would never be satisfied with the package. They would then talk bad about the company/management during the appraisal and then switch again.
Every company has a salary band. They pay more only to onboard the candidate and not because of the skills.
bhaisahab i find this comment very degrading i dont think there is anything wrong with asking for more money, no company will give you extra money from their pocket, if they are paying you x amount of money they must be getting profile of 4-5x for the x amount they spend
so i find it okay for people to ask more money and getting it finally good for them

Only handful might be getting but most of the posts are fake as from same company which they mention are not at all giving such packages!!!

I have an offer of 36 lakh having 12 years exp but when I asked 40 lakh in another company during HR discussion then they put my profile on hold. So I am also not sure if 8 exp guy getting 40 lakh pkg.
Tester (Selenium) is common skills and company is not providing to this. My skills is in Cypress, Webdriverio javascript based framework.
Embedded QA, it's completely possible. With 12 years, it goes even beyond 60 lacs also..
Even I m also very doubtful if folks are really getting 30-40L with 10 yoe as a manual tester and some sort of Selenium
Embedded QA vs Software QA have different salary ranges. Usually, embedded QA salary ranges are far higher than software ones. AFAIK, still in embedded QA, with 6-8 YOE, upto 30-35Lacs per annum is possible, 40+Lacs looks exaggerated figure but I can't say it's not at possible.
Key Is SDET role which is a QA good at programing. Don't be in dilemma that writing automation scripts is programing. Always strive to improve automation by using language properly thereby having a good grip on any one language like java, javascript or python. If you can be good at DSA then it like cheery on the cake. SDETs are earning more or equivalent to developers in the range of 50-60 lpa for 8 year experience.
Also again negotiation skill is must. No organisation would give you big money until you ask for it and prove it by your skills and counter offers. Use your notice period effectively - don't relax with just one offer.
