Depends where you are in your career. At this point, call me whatever you want if you’re gonna pay me.
When you’re just trying to make it to the end and bank money. Or when your ambition is to have a good work/life balance.
Tech titles are often lower than agency titles, so if that’s your end goal, it could definitely be a good bet. And many folks take this path. Slightly different than taking a lower title at another agency, but even that could work out.
Look into the role and remit and see if it feels like growth (if that’s what you’re looking for at the moment).
Titles are all over the place and different everywhere. Basically salaries get capped by titles in house. So if you are taking a new gig that pays more with a more generic title, go for the money. Only way up is up.
Worst case, you can just point on your resume to experience and say “yea that place had weird titles, but I had more responsibilities and higher salary”
It’s a strategic call. One step back for two steps forward. But CS1 made a good point. Where are you in your career?
I’ve been a Sr AD for a year so competing against seasoned Sr ADs with more work and more experience is kinda rough unless I fall back to mid level
I would prefer a better salary over a title. I agree with others that you need to be strategic. For example moving in house for a particular industry will have a bigger impact career with than a title change.
