I'd say aim for like 10-15 applications a day if you have the time, especially targeting places where you genuinely want to work. And the rest is just work that makes you feel like you're accomplishing a lot but really doesn't land at anything. Preserve yur energy and apply to the places that work out best for your skills and needs.
It’s so hard to get your resume to the top of the pile today. With that mindset, I couldn’t imagine finally getting in front of human eyes, and it wasn’t my best effort. That’s exactly what I’d be giving if I were only focused on the number of applications going out.
I'm always puzzled by people who claim to have applied to many hundreds of jobs. It just doesn't seem possible that they could even find that many likely prospects. So that means they're just spamming companies with irrelevant applications. I have to believe quality over quantity is the way to go.
