Some people say lack of recognition lowers morale. But actually….from an employee standpoint, what does that recognition actually do? Especially when it’s not tied to an incentive or raise? 🤔

It makes you feel valued as a team member not just an employment number. Also it does lower moral if you are trying your best and all you get is telling off when (being human) you make mistakes.

Agreed. Recognition matters to me. It's not a replacement for raises, but it does help morale.

There are levels of recognition. Giving people regular encouragement is a valuable form of recognition and I'm convinced it helps to keep morale high. If managers more or less ignore it when people do good work, that causes morale to suffer over time. Companies can't dispense incentives or raises very often, but recognition of good work should be a regular occurrence.

Indeed, I agree. And that applies to hourly level and management employees. Hard work isn’t recognized enough

I would rather somebody tell me I’m doing a good job than not. I do understand your point. If there’s no tangible recognition, it only goes so far. I’d say there are other problems if recognition lowers morale.

Absolutely. A little goes a long way, even if it is a small compliment in your work.

I am working in corporate banking since last 6 years in credit analyst role. I have done MBA Finance (tier 1 college) and B.Tech (IT). I have also worked for 2 years as a Software Developer before Pursuing MBA. Now I want to switch to IT company where my banking domain and finance skills can be used. Any leads or can someone guide how do I go ahead?

I am starting from the ground up for R1.

Is it awkward to ask your second MBA recommender to be your additional reference for Sloan, such that they know that you are not using them as your 1st refommender choice?

For the context, Sloan only requires one LoR.

Also related, how often does Sloan contact the additional references?
