My mom used to put us in front of MTv lol. She had to limit our music video/screen exposure but she said the good older stuff was a great baby sitter along with a bouncy swing.

Your daily items are great toys for kids that age. Boxes, cooking utensils or pots, cans, books, rolled up paper, etc etc and be creative. It will save you money in the long run because they get bored easily with items after a day or 2. The thing is you need to engage them and make it seems like it’s really fun to play with said item and they’ll be entertained for hours because they’ve seen you do it.
As far as childproof, just don’t have any coffee table with mirror or anything mirror that can break when bumped into or cabinets that would fall down. Otherwise, they are resilient and will shake it off if they bumped into it and they will learn to navigate away.
I agree a 1 year old will be hard to keep busy and entertained. Just rotate activities around, and it can even be your daily ones and include them in it.
1 yr old is tough cause they try to eat everything - a jumperoo? A bigger playpen? a goldfish?

My son is 16 months now but at 1, he really liked a ball pit (Amazon has some pop up ones that also have a tunnel and fold super small or fill a pack and play). We also love the lovevery kits.
...we are both WFH so it's obviously difficult to entertain baby all day, stay on top of her nursing/eating/sleeping schedule, get actual work done, and not lose our minds. (House desperately needs cleaning/baby proofing since she will be walking soon, so lol on when we might get that done.)

Thanks all, some great ideas here. Additionally, thank God for weekends (the ones where I don't have to work anyhow)
