I wouldn't worry about that happening. Every generation that has come along has contributed to the language, going back at least as far as the Jazz Age. Some words stick around, some don't. Some become the word of the year at the OED. It's just the way language evolves. The only difference is that decades ago you didn't have content creators with a constant need to create clickbait, so various neologies developed more organically.
Thanks for sharing. I wish it was limited to 'some words' though. I have heard conversations and seen full paragraphs that I simply don't understand the context of what's being said. Let's hope you're right! :D
They can’t do any worse than millennials’ obsession with “amazeballs” and “doggo.”
Hahah never heard of doggo :D What is that??
We're guilty of using the term 'rizz' in our latest meeting. :D What you fear has already happened.
I am low-key impressed, for real for real. No cap.
Hahaha
Oh no, I hope not. I have a Gen-Z coworker that I can't understand half the time. What does "bet" even mean?!?!
I’m at some point this happens in every generation some things are just never professional in the setting so I don’t know how much GenZ slang will actually make it in, but I know Jen’s are having a hard time getting a job and keeping a job because of their Generational culture. Let’s say so well this fear of yours is justified for the future. It might be a while before you have to worry about it.
Reference urban dictionary when in need.
I'll be honest everyone here is pretty good about not using Gen Z inspired lingo. Every now and then someone will use a word that I haven't heard of and I have to look it up but for the most part they are pretty good about not using words the rest of us don't know.
