Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? I agree with SF1. Starting out, you won't notice the difference between holding companies.
Year 2, you'll wonder why it took 6 months to fill the position above/below you and, despite record revenue and your glowing performance review, raises and promotions always seem to be deferred or on hold. Maybe you leave then.
Year 3-4, with a token promotion and 10% raise taking your $60k salary to $66k to leverage against the 7-8% inflation over the same time period, you'll think about how your well cultivated expertise has translated to a 120% FTE allocation across clients, and why your media plans require the inclusion of internal inventory sources and senior-leader must-buys. You might even start to question why KPIs seem locked into upper funnel metrics like CPM or CTR. Maybe you leave then.
Around Year 5 or 6 you'll have another token promotion under your belt, but become acutely aware of the very pyramid-shaped org charts and dearth of 40 year olds in the halls. Then you make the choice between a career pivot or taking a huge gulp of the proverbial kool-aid to cope.
Enjoy the ride!
agree with these takes
Honestly if you’re just starting out, every agency is the same. Learn as much as you can and decide what you want to do next!
I work there now - Stay away from Publicis as a whole right now.
General morale just sucks, coupled with the RTO mandates, lack of growth, out of touch management, lack of raises and promotions.
Everyone goes to the office just to bitch, complain and leave
SF2 - spot on.
