Any advice on those of us trying to push into a strategy director role? Currently a senior strategist with plenty of experience, but every time I try and step into a director role (on smaller accounts/when the director level is short staffed) my anxiety hits 100 and impacts my performance. It’s starting to get to me, and I wonder if anyone has been in this position before... thanks in advance!
How long did it take you to get into a senior position (e.g., senior strategist, senior art director, etc.)? Please include all years of experience including internships.
I'm up for a promotion to Senior Strategist, is it reasonable to ask for a bump from 65k to 105k? Was supposed to get a raise last year but covid salary freezes happened. Glassdoor & real agency salaries show low 100k as avg for the role, but never heard of anyone getting anywhere near a 62% bump without jumping shop... NYC, 5 yrs exp (3 agency, 2 media)
Looking for Strategist (2+ yrs exp) and Senior Strategist (5+ yrs exp). Preferably in Chicago but open to other US locations.

What's the best way for a senior Strategist in a Media agency to switch to a Marketing (not Media) role client side?
Opinions on pre-hire assignments? I’m in the final stages of interviewing for a senior strategist job and they’re asking that I put together a robust presentation to refresh a program. They want me to think through messaging, channels, competitive, measurement, etc. I then have to present my strategy in an hour long meeting with the hiring manager and higher ups.
Is this normal? I’ve never been asked to complete something so comprehensive for an interview process.
I’m in house at a DTC company and my title is “Marketing Senior Strategist”. I’ve taken a lot of new responsibility and would like to ask for promotion... but I’m unclear on what title change to ask for. I’m a part of a small team so I don’t have any role models for this. Advice?

What’s the best certification or course to take to build a career within HR. My career has not been linear and I feel it’s hard to sell myself as a candidate to the right roles that I’d like. Background: Office manager, personal assistant, Regional Manager(this was a startup environment where I wore a lot of different hats; Project Management , EA, Full Cycle Recruiting, People Operations, logistics, L&D, etc), HR & talent coordinator. My end goal would be in a Head of People role.
I'm currently a programmatic analyst in NYC, but soon I will start my Master in Business Analytics this fall.
I have a few concerns, and would love to have your thoughts!
1. Will the school name matter when you apply for a job in analytics field.
2. With an MSBA degree, can I still apply for data scientist position? If yes, how should I start building my portfolio.
3. Your thoughts of data science/analytics opportunities in adtech/programmatic field?

Would it be seen as a downgrade to go from agencyAD to presentation designer?
I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong position. I thought I was used to throwing out a fuckton of ideas + animating them + getting shot down a ton, but I’m only getting more and more miserable as time passes.
I feel like my energy is getting wasted and would be happier focusing on slides and presentations only, but I’m afraid it’ll hurt my career trajectory. But I also heard presentation designers make a lot. Thoughts?
Any insights to in-house hiring process? Is it typically longer than agency? Seems like every step has taken 2+ weeks. And now I’m going on 3 weeks since our last communication with no reply...
I am a experienced manager in transaction advisory services (financial due diligence), thing about going to industry but I am also wondering if staying in the firm till senior manager or director will get a better exit opportunity. I am interested in pivoting from an agency into a traditional business consultancy role. I have start-up tech experience and four years of Strategy experience for media clients. Are there any projects folks in consulting would recommend I take on to add to build on to a resume? From the outside looking in, it seems like there is an overlap in the core competencies of a strong strategist at an agency and a consultant.
I have been working as an internal auditor for the last 2.5 years, and am contemplating on whether to consider moving roles into middle / front office or take a VP role art a peer bank. Any thoughts?
