I did get back to my pre-pregnancy weight after each of my 3 kids....took 6-9 months on average for me. (Let's not talk about how turning 40 and have a sedentary job has put all of that back on, but that's another issue entirely.) I did a mix of still wearing my stretchy pregnancy pants and stretchy tops that didn't scream 'maternity' and buying a few new pieces on sale. I had my first baby in October and I remember buying American Eagle jeans on black friday for $20 each - one in each size between where I was and my regular size. It helped me get through those months. Just give yourself grace. You grew a human - that's badass :)
I personally don’t lose weight when I’m nursing so I stay like 2-3 sizes above my pre-pregnancy weight for like over a year postpartum, or more 😔 buy clothes that fit you. Life’s too short to squeeze into clothes that don’t fit comfortable or remind you of who you used to be. If you eventually fit back into your pre pregnancy clothes, then awesome, but there’s much value in finding clothes you feel pretty and comfortable to fit the season you’re in now 🤎
I gave myself grace during that period. Everyone’s body is different, and for some, it takes time (months or even longer) to return to pre-pregnancy shape. I found that putting less pressure on myself and focusing on feeling good in my body, regardless of weight, made a huge difference mentally. I did buy a few items in a larger size, but I made sure they were versatile and could be worn post-pregnancy too. This way, I wasn't wasting money but still had clothes that fit in the meantime.
Def consider something like rent the runway if you want flexibility! Easy to change sizes out as you lose weight and also lets you experiment with your style since your post-baby shape may not be the same even once you reach your goal weight.
Nuuly!
