Anybody has had any major client business related fails. For me an interesting one was we questioning CEO why they have not done (a rather obvious) cross sell to which he actually replied ‘we didn’t get around to it, but that feels like a good idea and an opportunity’ it probably costed the firm about 10-20% in profit p.a. for 10 odd years. I was amazed and horrified at the same time that he said it coz I would have been fired for much less
Watching 50 Shades, if I were *that* unprepared with a meeting with a CEO, I would have been fired/dismissed on the spot, smh
Can somebody please help this person stay off unemployment welfare? /s https://www.wsj.com/articles/parler-ceo-says-he-was-fired-by-conservative-political-donor-rebekah-mercer-11612397380
I work for a small boutique firm with ABYSMAL and TOXIC culture. The CEO has a habit of firing anyone who questions/disobeys him (he fired 40+ consultants since concis started) 5 consultants (incl myself) quit in the past 2 weeks leaving the firm with less than 10 consultants. I’m loving this karma
Regular person goes broke in the pandemic: 4-hour food bank lines and eviction. Company goes bankrupt in the pandemic: employees get laid off and the CEO gets a seven-figure bonus (that's not hyperbole - here's a partial list of companies that have done just that):
Amazing breakdown of everything that was considered leading up to layoffs and INCREDIBLE severance package. Companies, if your messaging is not like Airbnb’s, pls fix https://news.airbnb.com/a-message-from-co-founder-and-ceo-brian-chesky/
Sooo we just had a town hall with the managing partner/CEO and I don't know if it was intentional, but the background was his MASSIVE, palatial country/vacation house. Am I wrong for feeling that this he was a bit out of touch? Especially since many of us associates are still scrambling for work and we're under constant fear of being laid off.
If you believe The NY Times, PLEASE stop accepting low ball offers (staff and freelance) and agreeing to significant salary reductions going forward. Only those in the c-suite benefit, not any1 else https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/29/business/economy/ceo-pay-pandemic-layoffs.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage
Crispin has layoffs a couple of weeks ago. They announced it at a virtual town hall. The CEO did the usual “good people, hard to see them go” routine. Then he pivoted to the fact that he had safely made it to his Swedish vacation home and proceeded to walk around with his laptop and show it off to everyone.
Accenture CEO said on earnings call that accelerated performance cycle will help manage low performers at greater pace if need to pull levers. More layoffs are incoming soon. About last layoffs, we didn't do any layoffs it's cost adjustments mostly in operation centers and restructure due new growth model. 🤷♂️
How reliable do we think the Deloitte Tax CEO’s “intel” is on the other Big 4 doing layoffs?
I got laid off because of covid and need to discuss the severance package with my ceo tomorrow. Company offers 6 months, I want more as it probably will take much longer to find a new job. Any tips for a conversation like this? I’m normally a strong person related to my work but feel very uncomfortable and uncertain right now. He is a good talker and I’m afraid he will walk all over me.
Not sure whether this was shared before. What are the other consulting companies with Covid related layoffs? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-05-29/deloitte-consulting-ceo-warns-of-about-2-500-job-cuts
Here we go... wonder if the US firm would’ve had it easier had they rolled out voluntary flex arrangements at the same time as the Canadian firm. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-05-29/deloitte-consulting-ceo-warns-of-about-2-500-job-cuts

Airbnb laid off 25% of their company. Their CEO’s handling of the layoffs is the most transparent, clear and humane handling of the situation I’ve seen. Execs on here, please take note of how this was communicated: https://news.airbnb.com/a-message-from-co-founder-and-ceo-brian-chesky/
CEO is hosting a town hall on Zoom to say there will be no layoffs and no salary cuts and someone has just used the chat to ask for a stipend to buy a chair. This is why we can’t have nice things
Why are the only big-name layoffs Creatives? No agency president, CEO or CFO who left their agency unprepared is being fired?
Interviewing w/ IBM Watson Health... Anyone have feedback on the firm / direction? Curious about brand new CEO...firm has acquired a lot in healthcare recently, but also had major layoffs last year
Is it weird that my CEO has not issued any communication to the company about the impact of the pandemic and what we are doing? Meanwhile, people are being laid off, furloughed and taking pay cuts.
CEO’s out there guaranteeing no Covid layoffs, cutting their own salaries and creating employee relief funds. Aside from employee videos, which leaders in advertising are stepping up with actions?
Anyone else a member of bsc? Finally got an email from them today but no answer on how they’re treating recurring charges while they’re closed and read article that ceo laid off every single employee
Fyi, in case anyone is considering Away: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/01/13/away-co-founder-steph-korey-back-as-co-ceo-after-social-media-uproar.html - sounds sketchy (slack messages for this!) and I wonder if people are getting fired internally
McDonald’s fired their CEO for having a relationship with an employee. How many agencies would have their leadership decimated if this was a rule in advertising?
Fired for a bullshit reason by a sociopathic boss so he could make a political play and hire a lady to look good to the CEO. He was promoted quickly after. Any tips for moving on. Still feel wronged
So I’ve had two interviews at a start up, one over video chat and the other was two hours long in-person with the CEO and the co-founder, but during the process I was laid off from my job (continued)
CEO: “You have a choice: Either toe the line and accept this is corporate America or...” Me: “What’s the severance package?” CEO: “Generous.” Me: “I’ll do that. Right, I’m off to the bar.”
Les Moonves won’t receive $120MM severance package https://www.wsj.com/articles/ex-cbs-ceo-leslie-moonves-wont-receive-any-severance-payment-11545085546
No matter how much good feedback I get and how well received my work is by clients, I constantly assume I’m about to be called in to the CEO’s office and fired. Why is that?
Agency CEO: This is a family... but if our annual profits are only 5% instead of 7%, you’re fired. 🤔🤨
My company folded and the CEO fired everyone and only guaranteed 2 days pay... He was on vacation when this was sent out to the entire staff.
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
Has anyone in creative bought a house or apartment? I’m in NYC and trying to pull trigger but fear of job instability and layoffs is crippling me w indecision. Apts ain’t cheap

Just got laid-off at Arnold with 30 other people... but then again, what did we really have to work on!?
Anomaly president Franke Rodriguez emphasized the layoffs are not a result of the account loss: “This is directly associated with the impact coronavirus”
Anyone hear about layoffs at GT?

I got laid off 6 months ago. Next week I finally start a new in-house job in the media industry. Looking back, I’m pretty sure I walked the plank off a sinking ship. But I’ll miss you crazy fishes 😘
If I was laid off from my company due to budget cuts (not performance), do I write my résumé in past tense or act as if I’m still in the role? How bad is the stigma surrounding layoffs like this?
This will mean massive layoffs right?
Anyone else feel like as you move up, you have to work even harder to justify your value to your company as you grow “out of the weeds”? Especially with the fear of layoffs looming over everyone’s heads.

My wife passed the bar on the first try. She was a practicing attorney in Toronto in legal aid. Her last legal job was in 2019 then covid happened, we got married, and she's looking for a job here in NY. Does anybody in the legal area have advice on how she can land a job outside of legal aid even though that's what she has on her resume? She's interested in intellectual property, civil litigation, employment law, etc.
I'm diabetic. Is there any upside in checking the "disability box" on online applications? I know officially it's just for data collection but will it help/hurt me get through the initial ATS screen?

I’m current an S1 in corporate tax for a Top 10. I had an interview with a Big 4 for a tax technology position, but didn’t get in. I’m heartbroken because it was my dream job. 😅Everyone I spoke to seemed to like my experience and the recruiter said the team liked me as well, but they didn’t offer any feedback. Any advice on software or certifications I should get to help me get into tax technology and tax transformation? I’d really appreciate it - thank you for hearing me out!
