🧬 What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve learned working in clinical research?

For me, the biggest surprise was how much communication and empathy matter. Whether it’s helping a patient feel comfortable during a study visit or coordinating with sponsors and physicians under tight deadlines, soft skills are just as critical as scientific knowledge.

What’s one thing you didn’t expect to learn on the job in clinical research but now couldn’t imagine doing without?

Dealing with delays, anticipating them, and having plans in place to address them. Not something I considered until I found myself in the middle of them constantly. Agree that soft skills are very important and not something many realize.

Has anyone transitioned from bedside/patient facing healthcare to clinical research? I am looking at making the switch and would appreciate any insight!

Hey all! I have recently moved to a full time position wfh as a trial manager. It has been a struggle wfh so I am reconsidering my options. What positions are out there possible for transition for on site, except CRA?

Hi. I have applied for a job in an academic setting for a leadership role in cancer research. Duties would have me responsible for a small team of research nurses as well as other managerial duties for the department. I have been a research nurse for 3 years now, but I have no experience applying for a salaried position or a role in leadership. What sort of salary would be appropriate to ask for? I know that I should aim high and let them counter, but how high exactly? Thanks I’m advance

I’m looking to transition from an academic medical center to pharma or a biotech. I have about 8 years of clinical research experience overall — 7 years combined as a CRC (CRC I, CRC II, and senior CRC) and 1 year as a PM. I’m also recently ACRP-CP certified.

I’ve worked with many different industry-sponsors and CROs throughout the years, but many jobs I am applying to require experience at a biotech/CRO/pharma company. Would really appreciate any advice or referrals. Thanks in advance!

I’ve worked in clinical research in the academic/non profit world for the past five years. I want to transition to a role in pharma or a CRO, but haven’t been successful yet because I don’t have industry experience. Does anyone know of any CROs/pharma companies that are willing to hire someone with research expertise from an academic medical center rather than already in industry? Thanks!

Would appreciate any thoughts, insight, personal experience, referral., etc.!
