Offer both digital download and hard copy versions. Digital downloads are cheaper to buy, but not everyone has access to a printer, or money to pay for printer ink/toner. Hard copies cost more because you need to print and ship them yourself, but there are many people who are willing to pay more to receive the print in the mail, ready to be displayed.
Great advice. I've seen a lot of painting artists do this. They paint and then they make it available digitally for purchase so they can reproduce it for every client who wants a copy. Love that.
I offer free photo shoots for like 20-30 min time slots. I then charge for all photos or a subsection of them from the shoot. This has been pretty successful for me with most people buying a middle tier package. Most of them want digital photos with some getting a couple printed. Selling prints is hard, but I find digital is the most successful with offering discounts with the more hard copies the lower the price.
Hello! You can try to display your fine art prints at art shows. These are popular events held in nearly every area of the world, and they draw customers. Even if you don't make a lot of sales at the show, it's a great way to get your name out there and drive traffic to your website.
I suggest you advertise yourself on Twitter. It is a great platform for photographers who want to sell their stuff. You can get yourself known out there. I even know a photographer who made their digital print into an NFT. You can try doing that to market your products and style
There is no one definitive answer to this question, but finding an audience for your work is the way to go. Not everyone is willing to pay for art, but when you find the niche that does, you will be successful!
Pricing your prints reasonably, something I've noticed is that a lot of people want a lot of money for what is otherwise mediocre pohotos. Not a good look.
Marketing yourself and your work in social media. There are lots of online communities and platforms where you can publish your work and get followers this way.
It can be helpful to have a good understanding of the printing process and what materials to use in order to produce high-quality prints. I would pay a lot of money if something was well-produced.
Use twitter! I have some friends who have built a follower base by interacting with them on twitter and hosting spaces and such. It is such a good platform for others to get to know you!
Prints are great if you have gained a nice enough following or if you've taken a picture that many adore. It's also a bonus if you won an award for a photograph that people are willing to lineup to get it. Work on your craft and develop a website and you'll be fine.
Hmm. I'd say the first step is to know how to market yourself. Then you need to understand how printing really works.
