Sorry you had to go through that. Actually, my experience was pretty different. When I was let go, my manager took the time to sit down with me and genuinely thanked me for all the work I’d done. We talked about specific projects I’d contributed to, and he made sure I knew how much my efforts were valued—even if the decision was out of his hands. It didn’t make losing the job any easier, but at least I left feeling like my time and hard work were seen and appreciated. I wish more companies would handle things that way, because everyone deserves at least that much respect.
I'm really sorry you're going through that. That makes me reflect on our company and how we deal with people being laid off. I think I'm going to talk to the managers and see if we can make that process better and more human.
Nope. After six years with the company, I was called in at 4 pm on a Friday and told that my skills were no longer needed. It was a gut punch, to be honest. Especially because I feel like I worked super hard to make the company successful. Oh well, onto the next!
No. I was mid call with a client early morning. At exactly 8 am I was disconnected and my mail disappeared. I was trying to figure out what was going on, checked my personal mail, and had a mail from the company saying I was part of a mass layoff. That was it.
