Why? It is named after Francois Nars the brand founder. Why should they change the brand name - am I missing something?

I had to specifically google "NARS" & "mental health" before I found 2 possibilities - Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) or North American Risk Services company. The makeup company started in 1994, the Risk Services company was founded in 1996, and the term Narcissist was first used way back in 1898. So, no - it's getting harder and harder to find completely unique words & acronyms that aren't used globally, even if they aren't in the same industry. There's going to be some doubling/tripling up - it's up to the companies to make themselves stand out to their targeted audience.
