What does the average pension package look like for a mediocre tax partner retiring from a big 4? Let’s assume the person was a tax partner for 15 years in the southeast.
Unsure why people advise to resign at the start of the month due to health insurance reason. If you’re changing jobs, shouldn’t you new health insurance start immediately? Appreciate the help.
What firms have the best fringe benefits? Don't know if that's the right term, but thinking of things like expense policy, home office or gym stipends, stuff like that.
Canadian 🐟 who have moved back to Canada, what is the best way to handle your 401k, Roth IRA, Plain old brokerage account, and bank accounts? I would personally like to not touch any of these and let them to do their thing in the US till I need the money, but I also want to avoid double taxation on all of these
Do you lose unemployment benefits after you receive a job offer but before you start? I know it may vary by state, but haven't found anything specific (MA). They ask if you have an offer, and I know looking for a job is a requirement to receive benefits, so wondering if saying I have an offer and no longer looking would disqualify me.
Make about $105k right now and am anticipating a bit of a bump next year, whether or not I get a larger promotion. Also have about $40k of savings outside of investments/401k. What’s a good price range to stay in for what would be considered a nice/upscale 1 bedroom apt in a M/HCOL area? Think DC/Boston/Chicago
When applying for other jobs, do you include employer 401k contributions in your total compensation?
Is it strange to hope for more stock market downturns so that we can put more money into cheaper stocks so that when it rebounds we profit more? Secretly hoping for downturns every time there are new contributions to my 401k 😅
Is there anyway you can pay your corporate card with another credit card? Used the reimbursement money...yeah I know...
Parents of FB, how did you financially prep for your little ones future? (e.g. maxing out 401k vs 402b)
Ya PE! Wreck those pension funds! I'm sure there's fulfilling work, smart people, and some businesses do grow, but it's no golden industry for all those flocking to it like it's a higher calling https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/as-a-grocery-chain-is-dismantled-investors-recover-their-money-worker-pensions-are-short-millions/2018/12/28/ea22e398-0a0e-11e9-85b6-41c0fe0c5b8f_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.5fd7815bae71
On my 3rd job in 2 years (consultant for a year, then left for a new company that was impacted by COVID). My new role is not very interesting and can be very pigeon holed at times. The pay and benefits are top notch, which are keeping me here. Is it too soon to jump again for something I’m more interested in or is it better to wait?
USPS lost my reimbursement (visa gift card) for an interview I had with a company. Does anybody have any idea what to do and if the company will reimburse me again in case the card was used?
Hello other 1st/2nd year analysts- how much have you saved up your first/2nd year in personal savings? (Not 401k)? Trying to gauge if I’m saving enough or too little
For those of you who have been recently let go, here’s one they don’t want you to know. In most cases; if you worked in multiple cities you can claim unemployment benefits from each of those states. Same amount of paperwork when filing but it’s worthwhile 🥃
Would anyone know the entry level salary for some of the leading firms in the region ? (looking at McKinsey, Bain, S&, ATK, RB, and Monitor specifically) Currently working at a boutique and wanted to know how much of a difference there is
Any insight into Dunkin’? I live near the HQ so always am reminded of them but have seldom seen open job postings or heard much about any of the teams.
Is it safe to travel to india in dec? I hve drop box stamping but with growing covid cases is there a possibility of new travel ban? Also if someone gets administrative processing when they go for drop box, wd that person be stuck or consulate interviews are available?
The Supreme Court decision on the Wisconsin ballots is just beyond insane and nothing short of partisan. I have lost all faith in our institutions. My only hope is Biden wins in a landslide and there’s zero dispute from the Cheeto man.
I graduated in May and have been looking for a job ever since. I am doing a very small freelance social media gig right now but other than that I've found nothing. I've always liked the idea of becoming a professor and am seriously considering just going to grad school but I feel like that is kind of just giving up. Can you come back into the agency world after you teach for a bit or is that unheard of?
Career Path: Ops in industry to Public Sector management consulting (no really, not staff aug) to current M7 MBA first year. I'm going through consulting recruiting right now and I really have this nagging MBB-or-bust feeling as I'm talking with all these firms. I feel like that's not sensible. Talk to me, 🐠. What should I be thinking right now about firm selection?
How do you draw the line at work so you have some WLB? I’m tried of getting new asks / phone calls from my manager at 10pm.
I think COVID will be the big points equalizer in a year or two, gradually folks will lose status, points will get diluted and maybe my Amex Platinum Pro might actually mean something if they don’t bump me down to bronze or anything 🙂👍🏻
Is “Find your ____” a cliche at this point? Kind of feels like it but I can’t think of examples of brands saying that off the top.
Anyone have this weird impending doom the world’s about to end? That’s just anxiety/convergence of election and pandemic happening, right?
