Working in a phone-based role definitely comes with some interesting stories. I actually enjoy it when people share their crazy experiences. Recently, someone in our group chat mentioned a customer who called 54 times just in one morning, asking the same question again and again to different agents. And then there’s us, getting paid just a little more than the base salary while handling situations like this every day.

Do you feel like your salary is justified for the work you do?

NO amount of money is worth dealing with certain people. This sounds like one of those people. At least in a physical location, we can ban/trespass/ask them to leave.

I agree with you.. no amount of money is worth dealing with stupid or rude people especially at a call center. I personally am not built for it but I no other can do it and they need the job. So, I completely get it but that just sounds frustrating to be in.

You must work at a very chill workplace. When I worked in customer service, they were very strict about call times and we would get in trouble if we chatted with customers. No matter how difficult they might have been to get off the phone. I don't miss working in customer service at all. Even though being a cashier is a lot less painful, it is not worth what we are paid. No job is worth being paid below a living wage.

It is painful working with customers over the phone. I know you don't see them but I have had some crazy encounters with customers being on the phone.

I work with a junior PM who is not performing. Not my report, we share a mgr, but as a senior PM I lead the product. He can’t finish anything, needs a lot of coaching, I give him 2h/wk but I can’t afford more.
After 2mos I raised it to our mgr who promised to work with him. 2 more mos passed, mgr talked to him only once, no change in perf. I think mgr doesn’t want to deal with the problem. Now they ask if I want to manage JPM. It is going to be a ‘no’ but I want to ask some advice on all this.
