Would love to hear what everyone does to make their working (in a nonstop industry) and home lives a litttttle bit easier. For instance, I would love ideas on how to make 6-8am and 6-9pm a slightly more palatable shitshow. Any and all ideas welcome.

After years of trying to do it all myself, I started having health problems. So I put in the time to find and hire help in the mornings and evenings. Kids in elementary now, one with a disability. My helper does breakfast, lunches, makes sure kids are dressed. I help get them out the door. Similar in afternoon after school. It’s no joke, and, I have found I can be more present with the kids when we are all home because I’m not running in circles with no head.

How old are your kids? Are you in office? I’m sorry it sucks - I’m right there with you. I just keep telling myself “this too shall pass” and soon they’ll be independent and I’ll miss it and that’s not helpful. Fuck it’s hard.

I don't really know the answer sorry, but in case it helps – I look at my phone first thing, deal with anything urgent, then leave it in another room for an hour. That makes my kid calm because he has my attention and then I can get ready in peace before checking in with my emails again and leaving for work. May not work for everyone though, I know kids and homes are all different! I do the same when I get home until bedtime. My husband cleans up after dinner and does laundry while I get our son ready for bed and lie with him, I don't touch the dishes or laundry. Haven't worked out how to cook dinner without my toddler holding on to my leg screaming for me so my husband does it a couple of nights per week (we do late bedtime, around 8pm to give us enough time after work) and the rest of the time I food prep when I can so we can just pull something out of the freezer when there's no time to cook. Also find it helpful to have a meal plan (like rice with something on Mondays, a meal with chicken on Tuesdays etc) so we don't have to think too much. Not sure if that is helpful but I've realised when I'm half working half parenting I get neither done very effectively. My industry is non stop but being in a senior role means I am able to look away for an hour without any drama, hopefully it's the same for you. All the best!

Hi everyone,

I’ve been working as a contract TAS for 6 months in a medical device company. I started part time and as it became busier/my trainer quit, I became full-time. I applied for the TA position through corporate and would like some insight. the company is short staffed and my site specifically does not have good TA retention. For the salary expectation, I put in 85k which is in the range. I’m currently at 64k which is below the minimum of the range. Is this realistic?

I just received a great offer, but accepting it would require me to give up a 4-week paid sabbatical that’s coming up in a month with my current employer. How can I negotiate a late start? For an L7, senior role, can you negotiate a 2 month late start with a potential new employer?
