Layoffs

Had the partner in charge of the tax group I was previously in at a B4 firm email me encouraging me to apply for an opening with them (basically same role I was in before, but at a SM level).

The catch is, I was part of their COVID RIF layoffs in summer 2020, and don’t think I’ll forget that anytime soon. Do I just respond that I’m not interested, or do I politely make it clear I have zero interest in ever returning to the firm?

Just got promoted to SM. I worked my ass off for this and am very proud. At the same time, my daily life is exactly the same - my role won’t change and I can’t celebrate because of COVID. Also, I feel guilty because I know so many people who have been laid off during this time. Any advice on how to enjoy this accomplishment and feel the excitement during this time?

Anyone have any experience working at Capgemini? Looking to understand pros/cons, of the organization, career paths (SM and above), pay, etc. Recently laid off from a large Consulting Firm as a SM. Is Cap's SM level comparable?

Was put on PIP coz of last year's util%.
Currently having intermin above expectations in PIP. PIP POC says BPOC(SM I haven't worked with) fired on him for giving a good feedback and asked to set unrealistic expectations w/o - clarity in requirements, supporting docs(tho they have it) and feedback.
I have recorded the calls with PIP POC & coach telling that they can't go against BPOC and give a good feedback despite I meeting all the expectations.
Should I show the rcrding to MD/HR?

Something’s been weighing on my mind. I messed up in a steering committee & tripped infront of the Sr. Client Stakeholders. I made a few other mistakes and was rolled off by my manager (SM) b/c I sucked and it was a higher burn engagement he needed a stronger BA. Now I find out he might’ve been laid off and I can’t help but to think it was my fault. We never really talked after this engagement but I feel like it’s my clumsiness that him fired and it makes me feel guilty and give a me anxiety.

How much is too much reaching out? Some context: I’m on the bench and I spoke to my SM about my availability on a Monday. They say they will find me some work. But I don’t hear from him at all. When do I reach out and how often should I follow up until he actually gives me what I need. The layoffs here at Accenture has me stressing over WBS codes so much.

I am 30 and just got promoted to Senior manager. I think I am doing well but I feel I am driven more by pessimism, imposter syndrome, and fear of getting fired as opposed to a positive mindset and the desire to thrive in my career. I feel like I am suffering from some sort of a mental issue but wanted to throw it out here and get some advice to deal with this from the fishbowl fam as opposed to going to therapy. Dallas tax layoffs - 9 in BTS (4 SM, 2 mgr, 3 staff). Int and SALT no layoffs yet but expecting EOW.

Nobody has emailed me since last Thursday. Am I fired but just don’t know it? Escalation email asking for work to do to SM and Partner haven’t been responded to, nobody should be on PTO as far as the calendar says

Dad got laid off. Drinking got worse. Attempted assault on sis and mom. Had to put up in hotel. No clue on next steps (legal and personal). Project is complete shit show and SM is not getting it. Idk man...

Is it appropriate to talk with your M and SM about your concern over layoffs? I want to talk to them about wanting to increase my workload and scope.

Looking at a potential exit to Deloitte at Senior Manager level. Should I be concerned about the prospect of layoffs if we hit full on recession since I’ll be coming in new?

Is up or out a real thing at DELOITTE? Is there like a general mark for each level for how long you can stay at that level before having to be promoted or laid off? More curious for the M and SM level

Can a Senior Manager who otherwise has a good reputation, get fired for bullying? If not, will this person still make it to partner? There seems to be a lack of transparency in firms around this

I just got laid off as an SC at Deloitte. I'm going to go work for a startup and when it gets acquired by Deloitte in 2 years I'll be a partner and fire the SM that got rid of me. Justice!

If I go back to my previous big 4 firm from D will people think it’s because of the layoffs? My former SM reached out and said I’m welcome back anytime....

Firm isn't doing well with recent layoffs, leadership turnover, meh comp.

Current M at big 4. Oppty to move to a Director role(SM equiv) at a smaller firm with large layoffs 2 years ago but rebounding. 10% base bump, higher bonus target , more resp. Stay or go?

It feels so good when your best friend is your senior manager and you build a case against a less senior manager then he is fired. Sucks but feels so good.
