The thought of students recording other students or teachers, is troubling to me. Although we have a cell phone in the phone pocket policy, we had a seventh Grader put his phone in the pocket, and had the phone recording.
Yep
Students do not know how to be responsible with phones to have a working phone policy. All or none apply until students show responsibility.
Clear rules. I rather them just keep them away.
Nevada is 100% correct. You would think they would comply…. Well welcome to 2024. A different world we are living in. Honestly I hope CA brings back state testing ..so they can see the scores … no learning going on at all at this point. The other issue is more kids are only attending one period a day at school then hiding the rest of time. It’s still going to show a high attendance rate for our school but they are not attending the other 6 classes during the day. Ada is based upon only attending one period a day in CA. Yep!! The state needs to have better req to get ADA
a hard NO
I say no. If they could keep them in their lockers, I think it would be okay, but a big NO in the classroom. This year it was required that students could be allowed to have them (at the teachers discretion), however as a group, our teachers decided that students would be required to out them in the class, cell phone pockets. It was a fight to get them to put them in the pockets, and 75% of the students wouldn't put them in the pockets
Absolutely not. They should remain in the locker room
Ha Ha Ha! Even in Vegas my high school students don’t dress like THAT! 😂
In my AP calculus class, cell phones are not necessary, but I could see how some teachers could use the successfully in other classes. I don’t think this is a hard no issue, I teach seniors, they are usually more responsible, but I might say absolutely not if I had a class of freshman.
No. We allow the kids to keep them in their lockers, but not with them, unless directed by a teacher. We teach movie making and use it for research sometimes.
I dislike having phones in the classroom and I wish we didn’t have to deal with it, however, I think having the kids keep them in their backpacks or lockers teaches them that while useful, they don’t need their phones every minute of every day. In an ideal world, phones would stay far, far
away from my classroom.
NO
NO phones!
I always share with my students ts that taking videos of people without their permission is illegal and violates their privacy. I share with them my niece's story about her kids, who were being hidden from a dangerous family member. My niece and kids were tagged on social media by a friend who posted a picture. Thankfully, my niece's sister saw it, and they got it taken down.
