I am in between two exist opportunities. One at amazon as finance manager and one at Microsoft as senior finance manager. Beside compensation, what is your thought and advice? Thanks!
How much am I being underpaid roughly? I'm a 2nd yr tax manager at big 4 (not in a specialty group) in Chicago and have been a solid performer. My current base salary is 107K. My 1st year salary was at 96K. Just want a confirmation that I'm currently being under paid compared to market and by how much. Please share your insight. Thanks!
Looking for some advice on an exit opportunity - Current role - 1 year post-MBA at a T2 strategy firm making $148 Potential role - senior level role at a small healthcare company at $265 + equity Seems like a slam dunk, but is moving to a company that isn’t well known going to harm me in the long run? Should I wait for a F500 role that is lower title / comp but better name recognition? Should I wait until I’m manager? Having a hard time with this from a long term view vs short term
Is it stupid to take a pay cut when leaving consulting? I have an offer for an industry senior manager that is ~5k under my total comp but has a ton less stress/hours. (MBB EM)
I’m interviewing for accounting manager with a pre-revenue company, it will start generating revenue this year, and has plan for IPO. I have total 7 years public accounting experience. How does $130k +10% bonus in Los Angeles sound, as I’m relocating from a lower COL? All jobs have risks, I know stability and staffing can be an issue. What other risks I should consider? TIA
I hear a lot about how MBB really starts to pull away from T2 at the Manager level. Anyone have numbers for total compensation for PL/EM/CTL at MBB?
Just found out I was promoted to Senior Manager (People Advisory Services) Salary is $155k. Anyone else think that sounds low?
Recently got offered a tech company senior accountant opportunity in the Bay Area. Total comp comes down to $135k base and $25k equity. Is it worth to make the jump, or should I wait until making manager? 4.5 years PA experience here.
Anyone seriously considering a permanent remote work situation and move out of Chicago after Covid? How do you go about it with your Manager/company? Do you keep your Chicago salary or is a move put things in question?
I’m a Manager at D for a GPS project and salary is 130 with bonus. Have a TS . I feel like I got low balled after reading other posts on here?
I’ve been given the choice of a mid year promotion or market salary adjustment (MSA) this July. If I decide to go through with the MSA then the promotion will happen this December. My career manager is suggesting I go for the MSA since the total salary increase will be larger in the long run. Would it be a better career move to take the mid-year promotion or the 💰?
Trying to decide b/t two offers, currently an Mgr w/ M7 MBA. Both are traditional multinationals, but diff sizes. Any help appreciated! 1) Director title, low brand recognition, smaller company (low multi-billion $ rev) no hope for stock. 185k base, 20% bonus, but heard no bonuses or salary bumps this year. 2) Senior Manager title (so one step below 1st offer), much larger company ($50B+), potential for stock at Director level, $175k salary, 10% bonus, but company is doing well despite COVID
Got 2 offers but in different cities. Atlanta vs Detroit? Both offers pay the same but Detroit has a higher bonus. Both manager roles
Specifically for post-MBA: 1) what's the differential in total comp for MBB vs T2 strategy? 2) how does this change upon promotion to manager? 3) are raises adjusted according to city's COL?
What’s the best level to leave the Big4? SC/SA , Manager, Director? And when I say best, in regards to finding equal or better comp and title in industry. Not trying to have it be a loaded question, but would like to hear anecdotes.
Anyone have any advice on how to make a transition from B4 cyber to FAANG? Trying to make a move out as a Sr Manager and have had a few recruiter calls but here’s things that I don’t fully understand: - what is the right level to aim for so I don’t get pushed down on leveling - choice between managerial and Individual Contributor tracks - what is the right salary to ask If any of you have made this move or have knowledge about this, I would really appreciate your input! Thanks in advance
Manager salary ranges at big 4? Name group and location. (Got no response in salary bowl). Specifically looking to see if enough to support fam of 3, possibly 4 (we r trying!) in the NJ area
Is 160k good salary as a manager in New Jersey? With savings of 300k so far... I am wondering if it is a good time to go back to India.. I mean there is no end to earning more and more ..trying to settle on a goal on US money and saving .. after that I never want to regret once I go back .. I want to go back happily with no regrets and want to feel good about myself that I was successful enough ..
NEED HELP! Hiring manager from another firm will contact me in 2 hours to discuss an offer. What is the best way to discuss and get the salary I want? Can I just talk about the location being a T1 city and the average salary for the role is x dollars?
27 / 28 year olds. 5.5 year manager in tier 2 city. Is 165k / 15% bonus enough to jump ship for an industry role? It’s more than I make now...no mba
Where do people live in London? Looking to move to a decent 3 bed flat/house with my SO. Both on manager level salary (~100k).
Any ideas on partner level comp at regional firms? I heard that at my firm (ranked ~20th) partners start at $150k and wonder why anyone would stay for that level of comp. A partner also told me that they have no additional perks above and beyond what managers have, which would be paying for club membership at manager level. Located in Milwaukee for reference.
In industry. Was just verbally promised a significant (20-25%) comp increase plus title change to manager. I was originally planning on attending grad school in the fall (have accepted admittance to a top school for a masters non-mba). Now very unsure given clear upward trajectory where I am. Any help on how to think this through would be appreciated
Team was laid off. I was moved to a different service line. New service line manager salary is 10-20% higher than my current salary. No performance based raises this year at my firm. My utilization is low as I’m spending time getting caught up. Glad to still have a job but should I bring up a salary adjustment? Current plan is to wait until my utilization is on par with the rest of the team.
I'm currently a Tax Senior Associate/Digital Accelerator (5 total years of experience) and I am considering a Tax/Tax Technology Manager offer at another firm, but I'm not sure what's an appropriate Manager salary to request. Any input?
I need some advice. I finished my MBA in May T20 and have had trouble landing a role in consulting. I have 7 YoE in finance and now have the opportunity for a manager role at my current company (Fortune T10 company) I’m nearing 30 and decided to pursue my MBA with the intention of moving into consulting. The compensation would probably be $20-30K lower, but retirement and very liberal vacation make it appealing. I’m trying to weigh my options but would appreciate any advice or stories?
As a new audit manager, is it a good career path to leave for a senior financial analyst role at a large Fortune 500 company? Salary is about 10% more. Or should I keep on looking for a accounting manager job?
Currently in TC making 112k. Up for Manager this year but recently got an offer for a JUNIOR product manager role with 145k salary + 50k sign-on + RSU from pre-ipo startup. (Continue)
What does an Operating Partner at a PE firm make (base/bonus/carry/other benefits)? How hard is it to make that move as a big4 Manager/Senior Manager or is there another way in?
Anyone willing to share non-MBA manager salary levels at your firm? Curious to see what the market is at and whether the grind is worth it.
I’m up for manager promo this summer. Can anyone who was promoted during 2008/2009 share how their promo year raise or bonus was effected due to the recession?
I had my FY performance review two weeks ago and received an equivalent of 4/5, or “good performer” standing. Problem is, I’ve always asked for feedback and have made transparent my openness to constructive criticism, but my manager always says I’m performing well and doing a perfect job. Post-projects I’m told I’ve nailed it, made significant impact, etc, so I honestly expected 5/5. I dont mean to be b*tching, but 4/5 screws with my bonus and salary and I’ve been grinding hard for this
Am I being fleeced?! What is the expected comp for Business Operations Manager after you exit consulting? Got an offer for 130k base, no sign on and very little equity Am I being lowballed? I have other analyst friends who exited MBB to make 150k base plus bonus at series D tech companies, is that way you have seen too? #comp #MBB #Exit
Is there generally a salary premium for people in M&A Tax compared to Core Tax, and is it substantial (10-20%+) at the Senior level or not until you get to manager and above?
Came into public accounting from school & put my head down & made it to Senior Manager (maybe a year early). Now, reflecting, I am considering whether this is what I want to do going forward and worried about being pigeon-holed to tax for life if I stay longer. Comp also has never kept up to expectations. For others who’ve been in this position, what made you stay or go? Is the grass greener? Or should I stick with it and be happy w/ slight chance at partner @ some pt down the line?
Thoughts on KPMGs Workday practice? Outlook? Work life balance? Salary? etc. looking at a possible manager role there.
Will likely be promoted to manager this year, but have been contemplating getting an MBA from a T7 school in the next 2-3 years. Should I stay and build experience at the manager level for that two year period, or will the MBA be more beneficial in the long run? (Not just re salary, but also general competence)
Hypothetical: have an offer from a competitor that is 5X my salary and guaranteed yearly bonus of $1M with great WLB. Should I take it? Should also mention that my current manager likes to discuss my inferiorities daily, and competitor’s office is asbestos-free.
Moving to industry at Sr. Manager role. 180 base, 35% yearly bonus, 38k sign-on bonus, full relocation. Currently, Manager and make 171k base. Good offer? I know the company has great WLB and (contd.)
What are the Pracitioner factors that go into your bonus again? Trying to get a guess. Performance, level, promotion year, what else? SC, Not up for promo, $117k, GPS HC
What salary makes a good exit for a 2nd year analyst making 80k? Received offer for 110k, should I counter with 120? In NYC
Any tools or resources out there to help understand cost of living adjustments. Potentially moving to Bay Area and would like to see what new comp will get me compared to current city and salary.
Let's talk comp. If you brought in 1000$ in GDC, what would your payout be on that, and which firm are you at?
Do you have to provide pay stubs for recruiting process? Recruiter asked for comp info, but I declined to provide. I don't mind them verifying employment, but don't want offer based of current salary
Any small markets out there doing solid work? Always dream of carrying the SF (or comparable) salary to somewhere like New Orleans.
Hi All! Are there any other VPs in Raleigh on here! If you don’t mind sharing, what’s your base salary? When I was negotiating, they wouldn’t come up for me.
For folks in federal, Does having a Secret or TS/SCI clearance increase job security or salary? I'm curious to know how much value firms place on individuals with a clearance.
My chances of making partner likely <50%. Bonus this year going to be weak. Being offered a really good industry job paying more than I make now. Make the jump now or stay and see what happens?
If it were the right opportunity (in terms of salary, title, etc) would you accept a job offer at a new firm given the current/near-term economic climate?
2 years ago I decided to chop my salary for WL balance, and it worked - depression became manageable. But losing all that $ and momentum was painful. My current job is in Covid danger, but I’m also in the final rounds to return to double the salary, but double the work. I don’t know, what a shitty choice.
Thoughts on Big 4 -> PE ops role? 2 years out of undergrad, interviewing for a 2 year analyst role, would then do MBA afterwards. Interest post-MBA would be turnaround and restructuring Not a "name brand" firm. Smaller, local shop but role would have broad exposure across the firm and might involve work with investment team after year 1
At what point do I make my resume more than 1 page with prior service experience? Should I? I’m passively taking interviews. I’m in DC, couple years post-MBA with >, currently in an exec cert program, and multiple experiences with clients. I was 5+ years as an O on active duty, but I’ve been slowly diminishing those bullet points with corporate exp and education instead. They were great bullet points for getting me into grad school, but I haven’t seen their RoI with private sector/corporate HMs.
Opinions on having my own side bookkeeping business while working in B4 Advisory? And yes, I know it’s clearly against the rules... lol but just looking to make some extra $ to pay off these loans 😫
How do people generally invest in stocks long term ? I bought some stocks last month for mid-long term. But once the market stabilizes, do people keep adding more monthly like 401k or wait for....
Do nice women finish last? I held the high ground — stayed quiet— while she threw me under the bus. Recently learned the absent SM said I was not promotion ready, delaying me one year. Advice?
What’s a good role for someone who isn’t passionate about the corporate world but wants to live a certain quality of life? I was stressed and unfulfilled as a consultant so switched to an industry role (in the office of CIO, total comp is <$200k) and am now bored with the work and my much older coworkers. Am I destined to hate my job or have I not found the right one? Am in my late 20s without career goals or trajectory that excite me and considering grad school as a way to pivot
Ugh... insurance just retracted and now say they don't cover egg freezing after initially saying they do... has anyone flipped insurance no to yes?
Is this a good time to send money to India or wait I feel with covid on rise in India .. rupee will become weaker. Any thoughts?
In the final 2 weeks of my Masters Program semester, and I always feel like I am having to make impossible choices between data management, lesson prep, masters, health, and family time. Anyone else?
Anyone have flight booked with chase points but are trying to cancel now? The airline is allowing refunds on cancellations but I'm not sure how that works with Chase UR points.
Jumping from D to another big 4, doing the same thing, but higher title/pay. What are the most important things to negotiate? Goal is fast career progression
If I book a Marriott with the Accenture or Deloitte rate, would they try to confirm I’m employed there?
Probably getting lid off tomorrow. Already talking to PwC Director. What's healthcare advisory hiring looking like ?
How hard is it to get fired from a big 4? Asking bc I heard some people were “pressured” into quitting...
