Just came back from a baby birthday celebration last night. Does your family try to make their own desserts or do you typically buy it?

Spouse is visiting family. Being on my own, I bought and cooked a lobster. Spouse would get squeamish me killing a crustacean on the kitchen counter. Killed it, split it, roasted it.

Made a really good risotto - very plain. Some white wine, boxed poultry broth, a bit of saffron I bought in Valencia, a blend of shredded Parmesan, Asiago, fontina, and provolone, a wee bit of cream to loosen it up.

Good, but I have to say I prefer crab.
