Is Bain & Company still hiring experienced hires in Boston and New York? Would someone be willing to discuss a referral? Thank you!
Interviewing for a Slalom industry MD role, managing and growing a portfolio. Anyone know how base and bonus ranges look? (Managing a 20mm industry portfolio?)
Have an interview coming up Bain & Company Can any Bain 🐠 please share overview interview process for a tech consulting role—How many rounds & types etc.? Is it the same as the traditional consulting role?
If you liked your firm and team, had a great role, great pathway to leadership/advancement, pretty good WLB, etc., what % salary bump would it take to make you leave for a competitor (7-8 YOE)?
Bad idea to jump to industry ~2ish years before making (non-equity) Partner? Comp would not be as good as Y1 Partner, but better than I’m on right now and with RSUs. Global Fortune 20 company. Interesting role and tempted because I’ve only ever been a consultant so it would be a change of scenery. Target would be to make SVP in 4-5 years, or boomerang back to consulting if it doesn’t work out. What factors should I consider?
Hey fellow fish, Deloitte Tax Management Consulting (TMC). Thoughts please? Is it mgt consulting? Exit opps?
So.. thinking of moving from an internally facing sales role to consulting. What are the risks and what should I ask consulting leadership?
As a consultant, how do you answer the question “Why do you want to leave your current job?” Without sounding like you are leaving for Work life balance. Also, what is the expectation when a hiring manager ask you this question?
5 total years of consulting experience at accenture security ( 2 years as Analyst and 3 years as consultant). I’m up for promotion for a manager role at accenture this year. If I apply for Deloitte. Which position should I consider? Manager or Senior consultant?
Is it okay to tell the recruiter midway of the interview process, that I'm interested in another role. How to go about it?
Anyone work within FTI’s Strategy & Transformation practice? Recruiter reached out - claims I’ll be working with FTI C-Suite in an internal strategy role. Sounds cool, but a little skeptical whether it’s legit. FTI Consulting
Anyone have opinions on Genpact? Recruiter reached out for an AVP role but I’ve never heard of them. I love EY and have a great team, but if the $$$ and work-life balance are significantly better I could get over the loss in prestige/brand.
Has anyone applied to a super stretch role and got it? I feel super under-qualified for a position I am advancing in. How did you make yourself standout and how did you prepare yourself for the role?
Long shot but worth a try I guess - I have interviewed with McKinsey a few months back and have offers from two T2s. Had a consultant level referral at BCG in March for ATL office but didn't get an interview. Is anyone from BCG, preferably PL and above, willing to connect and chat to see if there is a fit for a referral? The reason I mentioned my past interviews is to establish some credibility because I come from a non traditional background. Boston Consulting Group
Can somebody explain to me those requests for referrals? I looked into our system, and there's even a question on 'how well do you know the person you are referring', with a drop down option of 'i actually don't know the person' Is there any benefit for candidates to be referred? (I see the referrer benefit of a referral bonus if they end up getting and accepting an offer, but I doubt a random referral helps the candidate) Anybody have any insights on what he actually thinks about these?
Considering a role at Chainanalytics within supply chain. Can someone comment on the company culture, benefits and salaries? Remote working if it's makes a difference. thanks !
Anyone who has left consulting for an industry role at FAANG. Is there a hiring spree? Would any of you be open to referring?
I want to understand why was Arthur Anderson kicked out of the audit business. I know they played a major part in the Enron scandal. But still these days we are seeing scandals happening. Someday we see EY name popping (Wirecard) KPMG or some other Big 4 but we still hold a strong position in the market. Then why didn't Arthur Anderson in accounting and audit business especially what I have learnt that it was largest among the big 5 at that time?
Finally I have 2 offers to get out of this place. Both new roles are a step up and pay the same in federal space. One is a very small company doing a traditional SM of PMs role, non sdlc pmo work. Other is a large company as a Program Manager, overseeing a staff of ~25 doing sdlc- some agile. I eventually want to go big tech for an IC role. I feel like the smaller company position is more aligned with IC role. My only scare is I will be out of touch on emerging tech and practices.
Any insights on the Regional Strategy and Ops Lead role at Google for EMEA? Salary benchmarks, interview experiences, feedback from folks who have done this role?
Slalom Consulting have some interviews scheduled next week for supply chain strategist role for the emerge team. Any insights on the prep tips is highly appreciated. This is is the first time I’ll be interviewing for a consulting company, so not sure what or what not to expect
I’m just starting in a consulting role out of undergrad but want to keep my computer science skills up should I decide to exit to a technical role. Does anyone have recommendations on how to do so?
Tech Modernization or Ops Transformation. Both financial services-focused. Which one would have better exit ops?
Was supposed to have an interview with Amazon this morning, but the peer never showed up for the initial call. Is this normal? I’ve been trying to reach the recruiter all week to align on the role level and haven’t gotten a response.
How strict is google with their YOE? Currently 4 years out of UG and didn’t get a program manager role interview requiring 5 years due to “Not meeting legal requirements.” Not sure what else it could be?
Would anyone who did a lateral switch to Deloitte, Accenture or Pwc be interested in sharing their experience of the types of roles you targeted? Looking to switch but cannot find a role that suits my profile to the T (generic data and analytics consulting manager). Also looking for a referral if anyone can provide one. Thank you. Deloitte PwC Accenture
Any consequences to telling a recruiter in the initial phone screen that on second thought you’re actually not interested in the role? Certainly makes you look like a flake, but is it going to cost you any future opportunities?
L.E.K fish, what's the difference between Consultant position posting for 2021 vs. 2022?
Want to exit consulting to a strategy/ops role at FAANG. Have had no luck even with a referral getting an interview at google. Can people who made the transition share tips on how to stand out? I am a Computer Science Grad from a decade ago, not exactly a developer anymore but work in technology consulting, and have an M7 MBA
Any feedzai 🐠 on here? I’d love to understand the culture, compensation, and career growth for a US-based role.
Anyone currently looking for a referral to Deloitte Consulting? Specifically in the Finance Performance/Service Now space, we are really hiring! However, open to refer for other positions!
Is Deloitte still hiring like crazy?
Alright consulting fish, I've never done a case interview, but I've been trying to transition into a consulting role as an experienced hire. I've landed a couple of interviews (great!) but to say I'm not prepared to do a case interview, whatever that really is, is an understatement. Any suggestions on catching up quickly or where to start? Or am I as they say, SOL.
BCG 🐠, is it true lateral PLs are looked down upon/in a less favorable position vs home grown?
New to Accenture. Reached out to an MD for a specific type of role. They’re a really influential MD who I want in my corner, but they sent me a bunch of opportunities that are not what I was looking for. How do you say no without burning a bridge?!
Planning to go up for promotion (Manager position) next year at Deloitte. What should I focus on to nail it down?
Does anyone have insight into the Deal Desk Analyst/Senior Analyst role at Salesforce in the NYC area for the following: 1) Career outlook 5-10 years out? 2) Exit-opportunities? 3) Compensation? Thx!
Looking for a director level digital / social strategy role in nyc. Have experience running social at a big New York agency. Anybody know of anything?
Hi,I have got an opportunity from Deloitte USI. They have offered a year long paid internship and post that period will be assessing my performance before promoting to the role of Analyst. Should I take it or continue to work in my company.
How common is it for recruiters to misrepresent jobs to people like us? I had one sell me on a senior financial analyst role and was super pumped about it. Later last night was digging and come to find out it’s a SEC Reporting Analyst role, nothing like what I want and the duties are totally different.
What would you choose - another job with a title and pay bump, or your current position with the best boss?
My firm is changing my role and title away from consultant to “customer success” at the end of the year due to struggles with selling projects. Trying to leave, but feeling trapped (cont’d)
Looking into a role in an agency that seems to call their / acc execs/ senior acc execs ‘Senior Program Managers’ , any idea what the difference is ?
Does anyone know anything about the “analytical lead” role at Google is? Is it the same as a data scientist?
A recruiter PM’d me on LinkedIn asking if I’d be interested in a mid-weight copywriter role. I’m currently a global ECD. Recruiters: Talented people need these roles. Do your damn jobs and help!
Looking for a director / svp-level digital role. Have experience running social for a major US ad agency and a great resume. Anybody know of anything?
Associate at laid back small firm (15 attys) with 5 yrs exp weighing lateral to AmLaw200 for corporate/M&A. Current firm has no billable req (avg. about 1600 a year) while new firm has 2000 hour req. I’d make at around 50k more per year by lateraling, but concerned with the work life balance and exit opps from biglaw in a few years (envisioning 2-3 years once I have paid off debt). I’d also make partner at current firm in about 2 yrs FWIW. Thoughts from those who have made a similar jump?
General question / opinion. How does the general industry view seniors that leave prior to making manager. Do hiring managers and recruiters view those individuals as people who couldn't "hack it" or
Would you take a role at an agency with a good rep and interesting work for $140K? Or a role at Havas (😖) for $170K+? I’m leaning towards the former, but that Havas $$$ would be a life changer.
My agency eliminated my position about a month ago. I’m not in a major market and there aren’t a lot of strategist agency roles. I’m starting to freak out bc it feels like there are so few options
EM at a life sci boutique with ~4.5 YOE. What would be the appropriate role at a VC firm? Associate job descriptions seem like they’re looking for 1-3 YOE. Is senior associate reasonable?
Hi, I'm a recent CW grad from a portfolio school. We all know that many agencies are on a hiring freeze for who knows how long. I've talked with many creatives and recruiters, and I can't help (cont.)
Do other agencies have a “no hiring people from Vayner” policy or is my inability to land a new job just because I suck?
kids aren’t old enough to Learn on their own so we have to help with elearning. 2 full time WFH parents in advertising where our hours are even longer than normal. The teacher emails and asks (cont)
What’s the scene with car rentals at Yellowstone and Glacier national park in July. No cars at all. Might have to cancel my flight
My coworkers and I want to report someone to HR but they are best friends with the one HR person that handles stuff like that... (Other HR person is strictly payroll/holidays/benefits)
I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.
Looking for office chair recommendations. I am 5’3” looking for a lighter color chair that isn’t an eye sore but super cushiony :) TIA
Anyone at Ritz Battery Park?
For folks who left consulting at manager level and went to FAANG or equivalent, did you take a pay cut? Im getting a lot of ranges from recruiters that are about 30-50k below my current comp for mgr and sr manager roles, even when factoring in equity (most are around 100k 4 yr vesting). So I’m interested in knowing what kind of roles are ppl looking at to get these 30% bumps on FB or should I be asking for way more?
Bay Area PwC - what is this I hear of a 20K bonus to keep seniors? Is it true? If so, please share the details! 😁
Is 3 weeks a long time to not hear a decision from a consulting company? I had my last interview on the 2nd, firm was closed for 4th of July week, and last communication was on the 12th.
Is LGA still a mess for Ubers? Any tips on catching a ride to midtown? Want to avoid that insane cab line
What is in the baby formula down here in Charlotte? I've never seen such a high ratio of hot women to non-hot. They grow em like crops. Not even nyc can compete
Anyone else get tired of the LinkedIn charade? Every day I see countless posts by people in advertising/marketing that come across as preachy, self-indulgent, humble brags that annoy me. Like, the pompous CEO/CD who writes a long post about that time he hired an intern and learned a valuable life lesson that we could all learn. Or the super-duper smart Copywriter who regurgitates Olgyvisms that we’ve all read a billion times to show his or her worth. It’s 2020. And I’m jaded.
Which big four firm has the best 401k match?
