Barely. As someone who went from starting a startup to being in consulting, the best way to learn how to run an operation is by doing it. Most of consulting is dealing with high level C suite strategic issues that don't really concern low level on-the-ground business/startup operations. That being said, consulting is good for learning how to interact in a professional environment, create good decks, project management, and understanding RFP's, SOW's, etc.
Wow okay thanks for the perspective. So if I didn’t have a good business idea yet is consulting good to see problems and possible business ideas to then run my own company? Or would you reccomend working for a startup and then starting your own? I agree that it’s good for the professionalism and stuff.
I mean, its not bad advice though! We should always have some options and be fully aware of our opportunities because you never know, I love my job but I also know that this isn't the end of the road for me and good things happen when you least expect it.
